not 100% sure how it works in korean law, but in my country and overall europe you can trademark words for certain industries/categories. so, when you fill in a trademark request, you specify the sort of industry that you want in protected in. let's say, if you fill in a request to protect chuu in clothing, it could still be used for other goods, like food or even an entertainment company, as long as the identity of the companies is not mistaken by the public. obviously this doesn't apply to internationally and extremely well-known brands (you can't name your brands adidas/nike/samsung/etc for any sort of goods) but i would say chuu should be okay.

it's probably the same in korea since intellectual property laws tend to be similar across countries. also, i remember yg trademarking “manobal” for certain goods only in preparation for lisa's solo (since she had clothes with manobal written on them)
