Crush under fire for seemingly refusing to shake hands with Black fans at performance, he responds in statement

Sorry for the fans, but how are they suprised by this? Especially after his blackface/michol thing, people have to learn that South Korea has a long long long way to go when it comes to accepting and treating all people of colour fair and respectful.

Fyi- alot of K rappers think and behave the same as him. If a fan doesn't want to be hurt or surprised, see if their favs have diverse friends or even know about hiphop artists outside of the what is standard in Korea.

This seems very strange as I'm sure there is footage of him high-fiving black fans in the past and he was vocal about supporting BLM. His explanation makes no sense and if he deleted supportive posts.... Not a good look.

But, I have seen people saying all Koreans are racist, this means you can't trust any idol who shows support, any idol who has apologised for ignorant behaviour is obviously not genuine etc. Don't people realise that saying all idols must be racist and all Koreans are racist is in face racist?! You can't tar everyone from a country or from a group with the same brush because of the actions of others. Not the way to go about it.

I think it's the better phrasing would be, a long way to go. If SEA are even treated shitty from kindergarden school to work, how do you think people with few shades darker are treated?

Honestly I have met and I am still close with those I have gotten to know when I was there, but that is the gay community and they are very open-minded as they face discrimination themselves every day.

It's just realistic to say Korea still has a long way to go, of course progress has been made over the years, but it's nowhere near where they should be in this day and age.

@MotorHome

I think the difference between US/EU and SK is that the formers are well documented that they have racial disparity, while in SK or even in the rest of Asia that is not yet really talked about. Due to the hallyu effect people have skewed vision of what SK is really like. And that needs to change first before they hold anyone accountable. Like the others said, this won't ding his reputation in SK, but if the entire country is put into a bad place or light, they will address it.

Same with the suicide numbers when they came out, they slightly changed the schools hours and created some laws to protect the children.
