Video: NMIXX is the weakest of the fourth-generation girl groups

Source: Human Addiction via YouTube

1. [+286] Sullyoon would've done amazing if she went to a group that had more of a Twice-like concept. Kyujin stands out the most with NMIXX's concept.
- [+55] But Kyujin's too weak to push as the center in this concept ㅋㅋ among similar concepts, there's Aespa but their center is Karina... and another similar ssen concept is Black Pink and their center is Jennie. Kyujin's just... such an average look, like someone you'd see at a high school talent show. It's a failure on JYP's part to think she could stand as a center at all. She's pretty and talented but not eye-catching. Just really average, doesn't leave an impression.

2. [+262] Rookies need good songs no matter what. They don't have a strong enough fanbase yet to handle weird experimental songs so JYP needs to stop thinking they can rely on the group's visuals to mae easy money and focus on producing some good songs for them. Look at New Jeans... they have the visuals but their songs are damn awesome so people are listening and taking an interest.

3. [+212] It really does seem like their position will be in a precarious situation if they don't come back with a song that captures the public...

4. [+185] Seeing IVE and New Jeans does make me think that rookies need good songs, concepts too.. it's going to be a struggle for NMIXX if they don't come out with a catchy song ㅜ

5. [+71] It's easy to think that Sullyoon only has an innocent image but when you see her on stage, her eyes completely change into someone with force and a sexy style. People will be surprised once they see it. Anyway, NMIXX has amazing talents so I don't think they'll be anything but successful.
- [+3] I don't think so. They're already a flop. The top 3 out of the 4th generation are Aespa, New Jeans, and IVE now

6. [+21] Well there's news of a comeback soon so I hope it's a catchy song that brings in the public

7. [+42] NMIXX debuted with the concept of a mix-pop genre so I think they're going to keep releasing songs like their debut song with mixed songs. Their best bet is to come out with a song that's a bit of a brighter mix like the second verse of their debut song.

8. [+63] I don't think they're in the running for a rookie award... IVE's way too strong. New Jeans might win it but they only just debuted... for now, IVE is most likely

9. [+60] I always thought it was unfortunate that their concepts never had the freshness of a rookie but rather outfits and songs that looked and sounded like a 10 year-old idol group

10. [+16] Their talents definitely put them at the top of the fourth generation groups. The kids are really talented so I wish their stats would follow too. They're a team I support the most out of the fourth generation.

11. [+133] So many girl groups with great songs lately while NMIXX has the most difficult to listen to. It's a style that's hard for the public to be drawn into.. Aespa, Twice, Black Pink, StayC, GI-dle, Le Sserafim, ITZY, New Jeans, Kep1er, IVE, NMIXX... out of this group, NMIXX is the weakest. Their company really needs to focus on catching the public's attention with their next comeback.

12. [+29] Girl groups aren't really doing the innocent concept lately. Maybe it's time to start focusing on a niche market. NMIXX has a few members who could pull off the innocent concept perfectly, and I think they'd do well with it.

13. [+30] They don't really have a special color about them. Their senior groups have a specific look but there's nothing that stands out about them. Honestly, I'm surprised at how well Hybe's been doing with their girl groups. They debuted Le Sserafim and New Jeans in one year but they both have distinctive styles still.

14. [+44] I actually think it's great that NMIXX debuted at a time with a ton of other girl group debuts... because it might be hard to compete right at this moment, but in the end, it's only the talented ones who survive.
- [+14] JYP fans love using this excuse about skills and talents, but in the end, WG and Twice got famous not for their talents but for their songs. The only reason they're able to be considered top groups is because of their hit songs. The only thing that matters to a singer is how well their song does, not their skills.
- [+14] Skills are important but the idol industry is an industry where skills alone won't get you to the top. Look at what happened to all of the super talented groups like CSJH or SPICA... you're going to flop if you don't get the right song or concept.

15. [+38] Wonder Girls and Twice didn't start gaining momentum until their second songs with 'Tell Me' and 'Cheer UP' so I know they're going to hit daebak next~ They're just so talented

16. [+29] The eight of them have such a perfect combination of vocals, dance skills, and visuals but their debut song was too difficult which pushed them out of the fourth generation competition

17. [+12] It's not their concept, they just have too many unnecessary members... especially some who look too similar to each other. Kyujin and Jiwoo are especially difficult to tell apart.

18. [+10] NMIXX's songs grow on you the more you listen to it... but the problem is that listening to it is the hard part.

19. [+13] New Jeans has a style that's easy for even people who don't care about idols to listen to their music or enjoy their fashion.. but I don't think anyone who doesn't care about idols even knows that NMIXX debuted...

20. [+44] When I watch New Jeans and then go watch NMIXX, they make me want to go back to watching New Jeans

i ll be completely honest.. i totally forgot nmixx were a thing lol. they can definitely turn it around but they need to make sure this next comeback is a hit, two misses in a row in this competitive market is definitely gonna be hard to rectify

Oh come on, they literally JUST debuted, if anything kpop taught us tables turn all the time. Top groups end up disbanding and small groups renew sometimes. They don't have to necessarily hit big the next comeback, but specially the past years have shown us older groups can hit big suddenly, or that a group can do average or underperform for a while after hitting big, and then re-peak after a while. Obviously it depends on their song and marketing.

Yeah, it's only been half a year since their debut and this is their first comeback and they're under a big company and have lots of talent. They can turn this around. They just have to go a different route than o.o imho.

this kind of topic is giving me flashbacks to the heyday of OH when it was constantly "new group that just debuted has kicked Red Velvet out of their top tier spot!" and almost all of those groups are no longer active and RV is still here 🤷🏽‍♀️ We'll have to wait and see, but tbh, I think it's silly to ask if a newly debuted group can "still compete." They've barely started.

They are going to need a hit that the public will like, maybe something different from O.O, since it got a lot of negative reaction. also... I feel that Sullyoon should not be put in the back of their choreography again. They probably didn't expect her to be the most known member of the group

My opinion is that they have to put Sullyoon and Jinni in the front no matter what because both are stan attractors and one of them is one of the 4th gen it girls atm.

I really hope this comeback is better than their debut. I keep saying they're a very well rounded group and they get a lot of attention for their covers. But JYPE has been fumbling the ball with these girls already. They have a decent sized fandom at least, but the current rookies they are up against are already gaining high ground.

i think there's still time to win the gp over tbh. if i remember correctly black mamba didn't chart very well either, but next level was a hit. if they're given a good song they could change people's minds, but i'm not too optimistic, especially because of what's discussed in this thread

JYP need to give them better song and do not screw up their next cb. Rookie gg competition is extremely intense this year but it's the end of the year if a group doesn't win rookie award. Alot of successful, top and popular didn't hit big until their 2nd,  3rd or even 5th year. Actually if you achieve so much from early on,  the pressure to do better next is big and when you don't, the embarrassment is bigger. I would say at least Nmixx won't feel pressured for now, there's still more time. They can take it easy for now but next year or year after that who know they might turn the tide.

If we look at the overall performance of JYPE artists, the popularity of the songs have declined in past few years, except Itzy Sneakers that manage to reach top 10 in Melon. The main problem with JYPE is the song especially the title track. They really need to improve on the choosing the best song for their artist since this year almost all songs from GG are popular and chart really well.

NMIXX is a group with a lot of potential (vocal, dance, visual) but wasted with their debut song, even the strong concept is not interesting. IVE, Lesserafim and New Jeans have shown that a simple concept is working fine. If this comeback is a failure too, JYPE need to change their management team!!
