I said he's getting there, not that he's there. He isn't on the same level, but he's imho climbing steadily. Wasn't Move pretty much a hit though?

I think you might consider it a minor hit

Move is quite huge actually. Its a hit. Koreans have a special nickname for Move which is called "Moo Moo" and the song is well-known for its viralness called "Move/Moo pyung" literally translated as "Move disease/virus" and the song never ages. Everybody/most ppl knows this song and dances to it nonstop since it's release until now and there's even parodies of it. I'm not only talking about countless of idols cover or weekly idol...Move has surpassed that level within the same year it was released many years ago. It's already on the level where comedians, actors, ballad singers, variety stars, the military, various public figures, non-idols, sports figures, the public(non-celebs), etc. dancing, singing, vibing, playing, mentioning, crediting, and referencing to the song:

The audience's huge reaction to this perf says it all

Fancams of Move perfs at Seoul Fashion week in 2017, Dreamcon in 2018 & 2019 all went viral

There's actually way more examples than these...but these are all that I can remember on top of my head right now...

Sure it never charted high like the  hiphop solo idols GD, Mino and Zico and the ballad/rnb solo idols like Kyuhyun, Chen and Baekhyun but that's because male DANCE pop idol solo scene is underrated and not as popular with the gp as the hip-hop, rap, rnb, ballad solos , but considering how this song and dance went viral/blew up eventually with longevity and great amount of unique listeners at like 1.4-1.5M  and  everyone/almost everyone knew and have heard of this song... It's a rare case where the chart position doesn't really reflect the popularity of it but rather in irl, the impact clearly shows. The song ended up becoming a hit (like it went from sleeper hit/viral hit ---> a hit). Like how many male idols can say they have a big dance hit song and phenomenon as Move? Not even many female idol dance soloists have a song with this impact except Sunmi, Chungha, Hwasa, Gain, Somi and recently Nayeon (these girls have bigger hits and/or at same level) . Safe to say that among dance genre male solo idol, Taemin is on top of the game.

Many international K-pop fans have little idea about the popularity of Move domestically but look at how these idols instantly knew what song it is and talked about how impactful, relevant and big the song was

I would personally still consider that a minor hit as a song even if the dance went viral

Well, that's your opinion, doesn't make your claim right.  We can agree to disagree. At least I put receipts and facts to back up my post. The thing is its not just the dance but the song became popular as well hence there's Move singing covers too on National Singer, Masked Singer, etc. not just dance. Unique listeners has surpassed way over 1M many years ago, so...it's considered a hit.
