A male idol in his 20s from the Mnet audition program 'Produce 101 Season 2' has been sentenced to probation in prison for breaking into his girlfriend's house, holding a knife, threatening to "continue to date" and choking her neck.

 

According to the legal community on the 19th,[...] Seoul Central District Court, sentenced A (26), who was charged with injury, special intimidation, and house trespassing, to one year in prison and two years of probation.

 

The court also ordered A for one year of probation and 80 hours of community service.

 

A broke into B's house through the veranda when victim B, who was then his girlfriend, refused to meet him around October 2021.

 

A wrapped his arm around B's neck, who was about to run away, and dragged her to the inside of the living room, and forced B to continue dating with him, pointing a knife at B.

 

B refused his request again, A strangled B. When a neighbor rang the doorbell after hearing B's scream, A raised his knife again and threatened B saying "don't make a sound."

 

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The victim must have suffered great shock and pain, and she has not yet forgiven the accused."

Nu'est and Wanna One members are popular idols, so they'll probably be labelled with it already, which makes it unlikely

Jung Jung is in China right now, so it's impossible

it's very (i say that because the name hasn't actually been revealed or for some reason there's missing info from this thread and it somehow isn't him) likely to be choi jiann/choi jaewoo from newkidd. while newkidd debuted in 2019, he debuted in a unit of theirs in 2018 and has apparently been inactive from group activities with no explanation (although their company just seems to be like that regardless, do y'all remember when 3 of the newkidd members were very inactive and then were all mysteriously hospitalised a few years back? i don't think there was ever a clarification of why that happened).

But would a predebut subunit that released one song be considered debuting? It could be him, though. I wish they didn't release hints that could be taken in different ways. Like the age thing. They never specified if he was 26 at the time or now so the pool of people became way longer. They should just release his name at this point because this is harming a lot of innocent people.

true. i don't get the point of concealing his name, he's a threat to other women and he's just out and about  plus if people latch on to one idol's name staunchly and proclaim that it must be him then that's just defamation.

His name shouldn't be concealed for sure. He only got 2 years probation basically. His sentence is suspended so if he doesn't reoffend during that time, he's avoided jailtime.

If it's 26 when Produce 101 aired, the ones who were idols (not models or actors) are one guy from JJCC (debuted way before 2018 so not him) and two guys who were in a group called Baikal that debuted in 2017, not 2018. I think it's more likely then that it's someone who is 26 years old rn and from a group that is not extremely active. I agree, they should just release the name, the list of male idols who are 25-26 is long and that's a lot of innocent people getting caught in the crossfire with everyone confidently saying "oh it's Jaehwan", "it's Taedong", "it's Kang Daniel", or "it's Sanggyun" all based on their "vibes".
