Need some advice~

For reference, I'm 20M and bi (closeted) and my friend is 18M and said he's straight in the past.

After a while of not chatting with each other due to being busy with our lives, my friend randomly sent me one of those "send this to your crush without context" videos on Insta. I thought it was a prank/dare at first since he's the class clown-type and loves to joke around, but he said it wasn't while using this emoji: .

A few days later, we were chatting about games and stuff and he wanted to play Genshin with me. I said I'd clear my laptop space and he said something like: "thanks my man " and "Love you."

Recently, while chatting, he again used the same emoji "."

I've had girls express interest in me in the past but it's the first time a guy has treated me this way so I'm a little confused. I also wanna add that we plan to meet in person this month with a few friends too.

Do I play around too? Do I not take it too seriously because he's young and figuring himself out and because he often changes emotions fast? Should I be straightforward or wait for him to be direct? I should also add that I won't be able to see him often as I move between countries a lot.

I'm going to say something I would never do irl: I just be straightforward with him. Ask him what are his intentions.

You could ask him directly, but it sounds to me like he has a crush. More importantly, you should ask yourself if you’re interested in him at all that way, or not.

Thank you all for the advice. I've decided to wait till I meet him in person and then decide what I should do next.

After lots of kiss emojis, wink emojis and "love you's" from him, he out of the blue said that the original crush video was a joke and that's he "straight asf" lol. He told me it wasn't a joke when I first questioned him... I was gonna meet up with him tomorrow and ask him directly but not anymore.

I'm a little sad  cuz he led me on and just destroyed all my hope randomly. Hurts more cuz I wanted to date a man.

Sorry man, young guys can be annoying like that. I had similar situations in high school and I’m glad I didn’t end up embarrassing myself in a major way.

At least you kept what I said in mind. Even if he did like you, playing mind games is not the best thing to do. I had a situation where someone actually did the opposite to me. He denied he liked me and then later confessed he did and I didn't believe it when he did confess so nothing ever came from it and I have no regrets. Neither will you. Hope the best for you. Someone who starts of with mind games is not in any position to be with you yet. If they mature up they might have a chance.
