original post:ย here

1. When I was 45 kg at 163 cm, people were always telling me to gain weight because I didn't look good...

2. I can relate. When I was 49 kg at 165 cm, I felt like my legs and upper body looked chubbier in videos...

3. But when I was 46-47 kg at 166 cm, people were saying that I looked scary because of how skinny I was

4. They're telling me to be 30 kg? They're crazy

5. So 37 kg????

6. When I was 44 kg at 164 cm, my nickname was thorn...

7. So I should be 48 kg??? In my early 20's when I was 51 kg, people said that I was nothing but bones...

8. The difference between my height and weight is 118 but I don't look skinny at all... maybe because I have too much fat ใ… ใ… ใ…

9. That doesn't even only apply to idols nowadays. That's what people try to achieve

10. So 50 kg for me. When I was 54-55 kg, people called me skinny but idols' cases must be intense

Huh? This crazy.

You want me to be 55Kg?! Honestly, I wouldn't mind to gain 0.5Kg rn, I'm currently 54.5kg. It's scary, I'm trying to gain at least 5lbs. It has been so stressful.

Height - 120 is basically runway model standard. And, those models do not dance and sing on stage thus, need no stamina and barely have muscles.

But, it's inevitable truth that humans look wider on camera and ones must be extremely thin in real life to look just right on screen. This applies to models and actors too.

Imagine how those looking so thin on photos and videos may look in real life. That's scary.

That is insane...ย

I've been having rough year or 2 that I've gotten overweight progressively worse overtime. That my mouth drops at this. I'm 5'8,i dunno exact cm but at least 172~3 ig. That's saying I'd be 52kg. 114 lb. If I put on a few more dozen lb I'm double that ngl. It feels so shameful to say bc it's all stress fast food eating +digestive disease. I'll lose will to live if I get worse knowing that is expectation to be half that. Albeit, I'm not in idol culture, but my own self image and what I assume others see isn't much better standards.ย

On positive note, this not even taking in to account muscle weight, same as bmi, I had underweight bmi as teen /young adult due to eating disorder (honestly I have disordered eating still, just opposite kind), and I don't even think it was that low. And I prolly have more muscle than avg girl. Don't get me wrong, girl gym goers have more than me, but I have physical job that has put on some muscle. Which makes this image even worse - idols are also active job. So they can gain muscle weight and it looks bad to them, that's theyre gaining weight when, well exposing my physical preference but toned is exponentially more attractive than just thin.ย

So, I tried BMI calculator and

50kg at 170 = 17.3 BMI - underweight but not that alarming but,

40kg at 160 = 15.6 BMI - is not this a medical concern?

Apparently, as the height goes lower, the more extreme the BMI goes. (This is why the height - 120 formula can work for runway model I guess. As we all have known you must be over 170cm to walk the runway.)

While medical healthy weight range is BMI 18.5 - 24, I guess it's more realistic to expect female idols to be somewhere around 17.5 - 17.8.

P.S. I heard that, by general, the white had more muscle mass than the Asian.
