[theqoo] NETFLIX IS PLANNING THEIR OWN REALITY SHOW OF SQUID GAME

AVvXsEgBcaJyKQClITQyTnXy8Jw2w6lpQVHYnK_v

456 players compete for a prize of $4.56 million, the largest prize in reality history.

Composed of games from the squid game + other games

10 episodes in total

Anyone who speaks English from all over the world can apply, they have an open casting format

original post: here

1. What's up with that prize..ㄷㄷ

2. 4.56M f*ckㅋㅋ People will actually put their lives on the line for this

3. Wow... I'd hate to die on this

4. Wow I like it, I always thought that they should make variety shows out of dramas and shows like that. I liked Liar Game and I thought it would've been nice to have a variety show based on it (but for the participants actually need to be geniuses to play on it, and Squid Game plagiarized it), meanwhile Squid Game is actually getting a variety showㅋㅋㅋ I remember Youtubers make a real version of Squid Game in the pst

5. I can't speak English but I want to participateㅜㅠ  But I feel like they won't pick actual commoners and we'll end up with a bunch of youtubers?

6. Give Koreans a free pass..

7. How will they eliminate people? Do they just need to fail the test?

8. Are they actually going to die..?

9. Can they start with Gong Yoo playing the Ddakji game? If yes, I would do itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

10. If you look at foreigners' reality shows, their commoners are such attention seekersㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It'll be f*cking fun

Now that Stranger Things is ending in one more season, Netflix is getting desperate for another hit and are holding on to Squid Game for dear life. I wonder what they're going to do if the upcoming stuff doesn't perform like thought it would. Squid Game came at a time when everyone was stuck indoors and the social and political climate were perfect for it to be such a multicultural zeitgeist.

I didn't finish the first season of Squid Game (too graphic for me) but it's a shame that can't let a good thing just be without tacking on a sequel and other related media.

lol dont want to be the party pooper but the psychology thing about this in deep though is kind of fuck up 😅

there making a show series that was about people struggling for money and doing anything for it to the point of dying into a games show hosts by a very big company  to get profit out of it (if it blows up) in a time that i would say there a lot of people having life struggles in the world because of what the pandemic did. quit ironic i would say. yes i know I'm thinking too deep about it when it just a game show.

…this feels crass at best and a terrible idea at worst.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on every point. It’s the antithesis of what the show brought attention to.

you are not overthinking, it is fucked up. a lot of netflix projects seem kinda suspicious or confusing like in what messages are they trying to convey

Dude I don't think this goes well. I'm thinking of similar series I watch and big brother used to give 500k,now 1million.survivor 1-2 million. The challenge recently has been 1 million but usually divided between a few people. I guess would depend on how it went cuz 4 and half million to one or even just handful of ppl feels ridiculous, and like others said it  is just not right and in line with the message the series tries to convey. Really ruining the series with greed before s2 even made or being close to release. And 10 episodes? 456 people. Bró I get Netflix sticks to short seasons and that fits on their other reality show I've watched with like barely over a dozen contestants and like 100-200k at most. And those fitting for those. But does not feel right for over 400 ppl to be cast and prolly get no attention. And doubt it'd be getting ppl fitting to theme, if like other Netflix reality comps will be attractive ppl work careers, not ppl  barely hanging onto life like in the show. That prize would need to include stipend for the whole cast to be okay to me.

Spoiler

Only competition I've known close to that was survivor 40's 2 million - but everyone on that season won the show before, already millionaires, it feels so careless and wrong to give 4.5 million to one person even only sizeable portion. One of my favorite survivor seasons - its so sad bc the winner was an alcoholic and basically blew his winning on his addiction and ended in rehab after. I believe he is sober now but it's a super sad story the transition you see going from being super cool and stragetic on survivor to... Being on Dr Phil.

For love of survivor I'm okay with the 2 million. That it only feels not careless giving that much to alr wealthy person. But double that, even to wealthy person still, is just waste of money and again tainting the show. Not even to mention so much of it is gonna be taxed anyway if they're American, idk about other countries
