They have never created a boy band that is worth stanning imo.

And Aespa will not do good in America. They don't have an image that's relatable. And if they try to pay their way to chart again like SuperM, it will be just sad.

This desperation to push a group down the west throat and become the next Blackpink is the main culprit of so many girl groups today releasing messy girl crush atrocities.

Yeah for you. But TVXQ and EXO were definitely worth stanning for many others.

i mean..maybe i'm not deep enough into the nctzen side of twt rn but…an album + repack album every year per unit (minus wayv) is still decent treatment, no?  idk if they’re expecting the same amount of comebacks in their 6th year as they had during their rookie days or what…maybe there’s more to it than that though idk

i'm interested in what type of sound/concept they’ll go for if they want to differentiate themselves from nct

They should innovate, not imitate if they want to stand out.

People outside Asia have diverse taste. Some people like tanner skin or more striking features. It just seems like another case of taking what people like in Korea and expecting it to catch on in a completely different market. It failed them before too many times

I'm not understanding the outcry for NCT, YOU CAN'T SWING A DEAD CAT WITHOUT HITTING A NCT UNIT! And the comebacks seem to come annually (i guess, i don't follow alllllll the units).

Are people screaming because 2 out of 96 haven't gotten their fair share (and that does suck for those 2 but NCT isn't done...its just time for them to pass along the front bb seat)?

I just pray this new group isn't all androids cause Lee Sooman still hovers.

I want to be excited about this because SM has an eye for charisma and vocalists but it's hard to be optimistic considering how they insist on releasing the messiest, most busy title tracks that leave me with little to no desire to check the rest of the group's music. Also considering how Next Level and Savage were so successful, I'm afraid they are going to push this type of sound even more.

Has it been confirmed that the new boy group isn’t NCT related? I could have sworn they said last year we are getting a new NCT unit this year, is this not them?

I don’t follow that deeply into NCT since there’s so many members, but I feel like some of the members have been dropping hints at a new project. If this is the new unit I’m personally predicting Sungchan, Shotaro, and Yangyang to be in it 🤷‍♀️

Can Sungchan and Shotaro please get a unit before they move onto a new thing?

There's also rumors/plans about NCT Japan and NCT Hollywood .

There's actually been many infos and plans about new SM boygroup debut. This group unrelated to NCT.

But there's also plans/rumors for NCT Japan and NCT Hollywood (pls see the twt above). So those NCT members will probably get to be in those mentioned NCT units.

Just make the OG NCT U line permanent and promote them!

You mean the lineup with three members who will soon have to serve in the military ? Sounds like a genius idea.

I guess this release system is fair to 127 since several members will soon have to enlist and it gives the others time for their individual activities but it's forgetting that despite being a six year old group, Dream still has potential of growth and the members are very young. Dream should be promoted by SM like JYP is promoting Stray Kids and Hybe is promoting TXT and Enhypen, they're literally in the same age range. Now is not the time for them to be shelved.

And let's not even talk about WayV and Sungchan and Shotaro's lack of a fixed subunit.

Btw, people can forget about this new boygroup being sonically different from NCT. SM is hell-bent on a particular type of sound since 2020. I'd be shocked if this group escapes the Frankenstein song formula. Though it won't prevent SM stans from blindly stanning them anyway.

Finally. I like NCT, but I wnat to see something different please. SM is great at making boy groups imo, so please a SHINee/EXO style group! Visuals and vocals please and not too many members..

A big girlgroup wouldve been great too, since Im honestly not a huge fan of the aespa lineup, couldve suited more members.

I think aespa will do well in the west. They are similar to blackpink.

The boygroup could be just another nct unit. Tho i can see them trying to recreate another exo, maybe with less members.

I don't see it.

I don't see how aespa is similar to Blackpink? Just because they both have 4 members so now SM is imitating YG? lol I don't get why people say SM is copying YG when in terms of music, SM is wayyy ahead of YG. SM's sounds are more adventurous and innovative. YG just sticks to their easy selling hype music with the same structure and genre. SM is also more creative in song-writing and musical/vocal arrangement. aespa's music is nothing like the easy-to-listen-to club-bangers of Blackpink's. But because of that, aespa will not get the same hype as Blackpink's in the west.
