Gender foul play suspected against a women's volleyball player

As suggested, all players of a women's volleyball team are required to be women. During the regional volleyball event among SEA nations, the top scorer of Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Bich Tuyen, has raised opponents' eyebrows due to suspicion over her (?) gender for obvious reason.

The suspicion was stronger due to a precedent case. Just last year, it was a big news involving a retired player of Indonesian women's volleyball team, Aprilia Manganang.

In 2015, Filipina team asked AVC (Asian Volleyball Confederation) to force a gender test on this player due to her masculine looking physique. The request was rejected. AVC announced that the gender of the the player was acknowledged accordingly to the official record of the nation she belongs to, Manganang was registered by Indonesian authority as female and AVC would acknowledged her as such.

However, in 2021, following her retirement from the sport and the recruitment to the army, she was forced a gender test. The result came out to no Filipina surprise, she was indeed he, Manganang was genetically male but born with deformed genital (hypospadias). He then got a corrective surgery and re-registered as a man Aprilo Manganang.
