one of my fave hobbies is to watch multi-hour long deep dives and analyses of tv shows i have either:

1) never seen

2) seen a long ass time ago and wiped from my memory

and these vids got me thinking: what pop culture STAPLES are lowkey trash?  and were they always bad or did they just age like milk?

p.s. stan mike's mic and jenny nicholson

Euphoria. Okay? Yeah. Great? No. Overhyped? Yes.

I don't know why so many people were going crazy over it & then turns around admitting that the writing sucked.

Friends

I have never seen Friends but I have seen small clips. It looks funny but I understand what you mean.

Money Heist/La Casa de Papel. Last season was tragic.

Spoiler

They had to keep bringing up Berlin flashbacks bc apart from Tokyo and Nairobi (who were also killed off), all characters were boooring. Also, the Professor and Alicia carried last season, the plot outside the bank was 100 times more interesting than whatever was going on inside.

Squid Game. Every one hyped it, and I felt disgusted by certain scenes. Love the actor/actresses tho 🤷‍♀️

Seriously! Loved the acting but so overhyped, like, people going crazy over the first game? Why? Never heard of it?

La Casa de Papel like harumaki said, I just want to add that the last season was especially unrealistic

Steven Spielberg in general. Dude makes passable sunday afternoon movies (maybe with the exception of the Mummy 2, that one isn't even passable). E.T. is terrible; Back to the future and Hook look like dated disney movies. I'd say the Schindler list is good but not worth the best placement on imdb for a WW2 movie. I personally found The Pianist superior.

I wrote a long ass review about Itaewon Class already so I'll just say it's around a 3/10 if I'm being nice

Call me by your name is a 5 or 6/10. It's slow, lacks subtext, the script is weak and is boring af. People seem to love it because it looks artsy but honestly that's mostly thanks to italy being pretty. I know it's adapted from a book but a lot of the stuff that happens don't make a lot of sense without reading it, which makes it a poor adaption.

A star is born (2018): it's the 528363th version but it still sucks. Predictable, cheesy, weird pacing, overly dramatic...... 3/10

Inception isn't bad but it has some serious pace issues, plot holes and the dreams look uninspired, 7/10 (cinematography carrying). Theme wise I found Paprika way more interesting.

Although I only watched the 1st season and some episodes of the 2nd, 13 reasons why is awful, 1 or 2/10

Most teen tv shows and movies are overrated but wbk
