What do you think?

Will it be Produce 46? Produce 48 Japan? Produce 101 Japan season 3 with girl trainees? Girls Planet Japan?

Anything but please, don't be another boy group show!!!

Wouldn’t they have to do this to keep making the Japanese seasons? I don’t see them continuing Produce 101 in South Korea, lol. They essentially have Girls Planet 999 already. Might not be as successful, but I bet season 4 of Produce would’ve done the same numbers as the show was already on a decline.

There was a Produce 101 Japan Season 2?

They're really going to milk this franchise for all it's worth. It makes little sense to me considering all of these survival shows are basically Produce 101:  they don't need the Produce name.

You mean season 5, because Produce X 101 was season 4?

There was a rumor about a reboot called Produce 101 season 0 but then the rumor is debunked when they announced Boys Planet 2022.

But maybe they want to make a season only broadcast in Japan to make a full Japanese group, and the producer will be Korean this time because last 2 seasons were produced by Japanese.

Yes, not popular as season 1 but the winner group INI is kinda popular.

And what survival shows are you talking about?

I've listened to a bit of JO1, so I'll check INI out!

I meant that MNET don't have to use the name "Produce" to market a survival show, as they all follow the same concept as the original anyway (lots of trainees, performances, public voting, etc.) with small tweaks.

Maybe because the brand of Produce is so big and it's groups always succeed (except X1).

Other shows like Boys24, Idol School, World Klass also made by Mnet but the shows and groups made by them (IN2IT, fromis_9, TO1) are flopped.

Only Grils Planet 999 which has concept almost like Produce are doing okay, it can be considered as Produce season 5. Other shows are NO.

How on earth CJENM registered trademark in KOREA meant a Japanese sequel?

Actually, they are 2 separated things: one is article about CJENM wants to make Japanese contents, one is the Produce trademark in Korea.

But I decided combine them into one thread.

In Korea, they already have Girls/Boys Planet to replace Produce so I don't think it is a Korean season (Although there was a rumor about the reboot, but that rumor is before Boys Planet's announcement)

So I concluded the trademark will have something related with the Japanese article.

Made no sense.

The trademark must be registered in Japan, not Korea, to be validated in Japan. So, the registration in Korea has no effect in Japan and completely cannot relate to anything CJ ENM will ever do in Japan.

Neither the Japanese article explicitly nor suggestively addressed the making of the new season of the franchise. Anyway, if they could have made 2 seasons without trademark registration, they can surely do another without it also.

I'm just craving a new girl group survival show after My Teenage Girl ended, and Produce is my favorite series so I excited with these rumors.

Do you think they will ever make a season for girls? Or Nogi and AKB are the ones?

Do the first 2 groups coexist well within the industry?

I don't know but I hope they will make a girls season.

And I think JO1 and INI are doing well because I don't follow boy groups.

Idt it's Produce 101 JP S3 bc if it was then it should show up in the PlatPAt as either under CJENM, CJENM Japan, or under Lapone (CJE&M and Yoshimoto Kogyo subsidiary).
Also there would have been news articles abt a Japan PD S3 by now.
It's more likely a revival of the KR produce since it was filed in Korea
and if not that, then Produce 101 Latin America [x]

It looks like it will be no Produce Japan for quite some time.

The Produce show itself is pretty much the audition. So, the company need not to run separate audition.

However, Lapone, the company managing Produce groups, J01 and INI, is opening for audition, to both male and female, and already has had a bunch of male trainees.

I think there will be a time gap between season 2 and 3, just like season 1 (2019) and season 2 (2021). So they might announce a new season at the end of this year and broadcast it next year.

What if the management company for new season will not be Lapone but a new company? Or even Mnet themselves will open a management company in Japan, like Swing and Wake One in Korea?

No need to run a separate audition still.

You have no idea how to run business in Japan then. Korean companies rarely change Japanese partner as the Japanese highly values loyalty. To keep switching partner means no loyalty and no big Japanese company will want to work long term with you. Up until now, Lapone is running fine, why mess up what is working?

CJ ENM itself can't just run a talent agency on its own. CJ ENM is a titan in Korea but no one in Japan showbiz industry gives a fuck, it is nothing but a nugu in Japan, similarly to the situation of Yuehua Korea. Also, nepotism seems to run even stronger in Japan. They won't just offer any new foreign agency a big job.

Kinda make sense but your point of view is not guarantee 100% correct.

Like I said before, let's wait and see what will happens.

Korean companies rarely switch Japanese partners for a specific artist/group, but some do hire a different partner for their next one.
JYPE is a major example of that (Warner for Twice, Epic for Stray Kids, Sony Music for Niziu)

As for creating more than 1 subsidiary/franchise in Japan with a different JP partner, cmiiw but afaik only big JP companies do it -- like Johnny & Associates and Vernalossom.
CJ E&M may be small fry in Japan unlike in SK,
but if they really want to create a new subsidiary w/ a different partner (like what they did back in SK),
they can prolly make up for the lack of clout by throwing more money
esp now since a lot of JP ent companies lost huge profits fr reduced physical sales and in-person events during the pandemic.

I'm just skeptical abt the theory that Produce 101 trademark filed in in SK means CJ E&M collabing w/ YK or another JP ent co for PD101J3"
bc JP media would have already reported it, JP trademarks would have been registered, etc. It's much too premature speculate on that possibility imo.

Okay, I just want to watch another girl group audition show after My Teenage Girl, and I-Land 2 is only remained show this year so far. (Queendom 2 is another type of show so I don't mention it)

Chinese's survival show is banned when this year should be girl seasons. So Japan is the only one left I can hope.

And I'm not sure if Mnet will revive Korean's Produce when they already have Girls/Boys Planet with elements almost the same to replace it.

Duh. JYP revealed he unconventionally switched to Warner for Twice 'coz the old Sony's guy JYPE had long worked with moved to Warner. Epic was basically a sub of Sony.

Throwing money on whom? If things were easy with just money doing the work, Johnny & Associates must have not been able to reign for ages and Sony Korea must have long been a thing.

Vernalossom is not close to big. What did you smoke?

There is an on-going big Japanese girl group audition, the Icon Z project. The project included both boy and girl auditions. After switching between boys and girls for some weeks (girl audition every other week), LDH woke up and decided to present boy audition in one go before re-starting the girl audition without boy interruption in early summer. Certain date has not been announced.

The girl audition was paused after 30 girls were assigned first group mission.

FNC JP debuted gg PRIKIL via a survival show called "WHO IS PRINCESS" which aired in NTV.
It ended a few months ago so you might have already watched it, but if you haven't you can still watch all the official eng sub eps in platforms like iqiyi. [x

So? They still signed contracts w/ different companies. Last time i checked Warner Japan is not a SMEJ subsidiary or vice versa.. And SMEJ >> Warner Japan. Whoever this ex-Sony currently Warner exec is, his influence in the Jpop industry -- while considerable enough for JYPE to sign Twice with since 2017 --  is still no match with the SMEJ CEO's, otherwise JYP would have partnered w/ Warner JP again and not Sony for NiziU.

Johnny & Associates reigning for ages and yet CJENM still partnered with Yoshimoto Kogyo to manage not one but two Japanese boygroups.
If you really think that CJENM convinced Yoshimoto Kogyo to partner with them due to Produce 101's impact alone -- on the very same year that news of the Mnet Produce vote rigging scandal reached Japanese media -- without CJ E&M throwing YK lots of money, then I should be the one asking you abt what you're smoking.

We're talking abt big enough to partner with nugu CJENM in Japan here. And CJENM did partner with Vernalossom (AKS at the time) for IZ*ONE JP promos. Considering that Vernalossom is now focused on managing only international sister groups of AKB48 from now on, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumored Produce 101 revival is a new season of Produce 48.
