[KBIZoom] why are Karina (aespa) and Sullyoon (NMIXX) treated so differently by Knetizens?

Both are the group’s main visuals, why are Karina (aespa) and Sullyoon (NMIXX) treated so differently by Knetizens?

How the situation will end is out of the question, but looking at the public’s attitude towards the main visuals of the 2 groups, Karina (aespa) and Sullyoon (NMIXX), a bias phenomenon can be clearly seen. While Sullyoon’s image is constantly being actively searched and transmitted by Knet, Karina used to make netizens “irritated” for appearing too much, she has even been called a media-play product of SM.

Specifically, before aespa debut and even a few months after the official debut was a rather turbulent time for Karina. She is mocked as “SM princess”, her beauty is not recognized by netizens, but she was often criticized for taking on too many personal projects, when appearing with the group, she was also the most prominent.

SM did work hard to promote Karina as a comprehensive female idol, showing their intention to push aespa strongly through the investment in her image and outfits. SM’s obvious media-play move has caused Karina to suffer a lot of scandals, and her image is not very good in the eyes of netizens. aespa was even once mocked as “the group of Karina and friends”.

Netizens couldn’t help but laugh when they remembered SM’s efforts to promote Karina’s image to the public in the past. Indeed, she has been given a lot of opportunities, every good thing comes to her hand and the result is a top reputation. But in parallel with that is the label “SM princess”, “media-play product” that does not stop clinging.

In contrast, rookie Sullyoon has only debuted for a few days, but has already covered the media and social networks with her stunning beauty. JYP hasn’t done anything, netizens have already volunteered to fall in love and even nominated her to be the new center for NMIXX. Therefore, it’s never wrong to say that JYP is the “master of girl groups visuals”!

They’re not. Anyone can call themselves a journalist with a blog.

Not every blog on the net is journalist attempt tbh. Some are just blogs. That's the issue with modern era tbh. Everyone on the internet impose as specialist and every opinion has seemingly same weight. Even my (or your) own slightly educated guess can be passed as insider info. And the worse is that my (or your) own opinion can be seen as on the same lvl as specialist's even in cases where lifelong education is a key as in matters of health etc.

Btw I think in Karina's case people just were negative towards Aespa in general pre Next Level. Karina as pushed member just got the most hate as pushed members usually do. And her predebut scandal didn't help either.

A simple answer is that Sullyoon is a classical Korean beauty, fits all their expected criteria. Karina is more of a charming type of beauty, she doesn't fit all the requirements but is still very interesting to look at, her beauty is polarising and appeals more to fans and people who are into her type, while Sullyoon is more democratic and appeals to Koreans at large.

yeah

and I think a part of that is, sullyoon has a more "innocent" type of look. while karina has a bit more of a cat-like, sexier appearance, so it's easier for folks to attach negative presumptions to her.

are you sure Karina is hated by knetz? As someone who lives in Korea myself, I always see people here loving aespa so much even non K-Pop fans as well and I've never heard them calling the group "Karina and friends". Winter is insanely famous as well.

Kpop fans love to think Knetz opinions are the reality of a situation.

I don't see the point in sharing poorly written opinion pieces. I also feel like I'm the only person who remembers that Karina isn't supposed to be Aespa's visual, and I'm not even much of a fan.
