is NMIXX O.O the biggest big 3 debut flop?

I know the MV has a decent number of views but the song has been universally criticised for its production and many elements of the concept have been deemed as plagarised by fans. The song also did not debuting on Melon which I think its quite uncommon for a JYP girl group debut.

I can't remember a time that a big 3 debut (JYP, SM, YG) has went quite this badly? The only one I can think of that didn't have immediate impact is  Boy Story but they were always meant to be more of a CPop group.

I mean at least as far as JYP's girl groups go, I'd say yes, at least digitally. The closest I can think of is Like Ooh Ahh's initial charting before it became a sleeper hit.

That said though, physically it looks like it might sell a pretty decent amount if pre-orders are anything to go by. So at least they already have a following.

if we don't count boygroups, i think so (the plagiarisms accusation so far have been ridiculous)

otherwise stray kids, treasure, nct etc. debuts were just as unpopular (which doesn't mean they weren't popular at all, but digitally the gp obviously didn't care)

lets see if things change once they start promotions

funny thing is, this will be their concept forever - they are called NMIXX so mixing genres is all they will do lmao

Treasure, NCT, Stray Kids didn't chart well either with their debut. But Nmixx's debut definitely got the most criticsm over the others. From the obviously bad production, weird mixing to the alleged plagiarism and then weak choreo, synchronization. Let's just say it's a bad debut

Yes, especially for a gg from Big 3. Their song even dropped out from Bugs yesterday though later it climbed back up on the chart but it's still bad and embarrassing regardless of the song's positions on on that chart. Same as Vibe. Dropped out and not charting on Melon and Genie. I've never seen a charting performance this bad by a Big3 gg before.

This is also like nugu 4th gen bg level or worse. Around the same level or worse than SKZ's no promo, no hype, no cb, etc. Christmas single last year.

I think what turns off alot of people is not only the bad song but this new group debut is literally in the same year as Twice is about to end their contract. It's as if JYP arrogantly saying to they're not worried whatever happens to Twice later on bc they have a brand new shiny group with younger girls as a replacement. Also, not to mention the worries and insecurities felt by Midzys about their fave gg. They feel it's still quite early to debut a new gg when Itzy hasn't even reached their peak, yet has already been neglected/mismanaged and the focus is shifted towards the new gg.

You might rejoice for now but it's not going to change anything, they'll still be a big3 girlgroup, they'll still have two amazing vocals, jinni and sullyoon will still be there to attract fans and brands, see you next comeback 🤣

What? The girls haven't had one stage. And so far the dance & choreography looks great.

The concept will still be the same unless JYP drops the thousands of dollars he's spent.

For ggs, there's still CJSH. Ironically CJSH like NMIXX were the vocal-oriented groups from their company. Overall there's also Black Beat who no one cared about. Swi T YG intentionally messed up so whatever.

Y'all doing too much. The answer is already obvious so there's no point in highlighting it. They just debuted, let's not kick them while they're down.

Are we counting SM groups from the early 2000s that have been completely lost to fan memory and weren't very successful? And are we counting boy groups like SKZ, NCT, and Treasure? Then they are in good company (and don't SKZ and Treasure still struggle to chart?).

I think the difference with NMIXX is that the expectation is that a Big 3 girl group will always do well and they just haven't so far. And they don't seem to have the love of international fans like SKZ, NCT and Treasure had at debut (esp Stray Kids, I swear everyone was telling me they were the next big thing in 2018). So in that regard, yeah NMIXX has done quite badly. But they'll probably be able to move quite a few physicals, especially since girl group sales are starting to catch up with boy group sales.

they'll be fine, but it definitely is a drastic debut judging from majority of the opinions. even if the public doesn't like them, they got a fandom backing them up because of the company stans.

with that being said, i'm seeing a lot of csjh mentions in here! the only reason why their debut was a major flop was because sm was marketing them as the "female tvxq" which didn't sit well with the group's fandom, lol. sm set them up because of that, and the sm company stan mentality truly wasn't set in place to include girl groups until f(x), in my opinion.

From recent memory, yes. All I can think of was Red Velvet's "Happinness" also receiving bad critiques as a song and even more for the timing.

And comparing to the company's previous debut, it did bad. Idk about Wonder Girls' "Irony", but miss A was an instant hit, TWICE was slowly but build up hype that have "Cheer Up" a place to shine, and ITZY was a HIT too. So wee need to see if they build like TWICE or expect the next single already, because they are not miss A nor ITZY from the start.

NCT also cames to mind, but I don't really follow bgs so idk. But their lack of popularity was notorious, even for me.
