Overseas publications and sales of Korean literature have been steadily increasing.

With the support of translators, the number of Korean literature published abroad increased from 127 in 2017 to 186 last year. If you add the support from the Daesan Cultural Foundation, a private foundation, more than 200 types are published abroad a year.

The number of cases in which works that became bestsellers or steady sellers in a specific country, such as 'Kim Ji-young Born in 1982' or 'Almond', are being published in multiple languages are increasing.

The Korean translation company explained that this trend shows that Korean literature is establishing itself by proving its independent competitiveness in the global market.

1. The most important thing about this book is that we need to put an end to all the incels who were in frenzy because of the book.

2. We need to show the dumb commentors the reality of this book~ I hope that more books like this get released in the future

3. A foreigner I know reached out to me about this book. Personally, I didn't read this book because of the painful societal issues. So I just talked to them about it normally. And turns out, they watched the movie and even read the book and were impressed

4. At this point, the sales are really steadyㅋㅋㅋ it's a worldwide literatureㅠㅠ

5. The kids who are always making a fuss about this book are the ones who've never read it ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

6. Good~~~!

7. People overseas probably found relatable parts too. There's no way it would sell this well if they couldn't understand us

8. There's a reason why so many people are reading it...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

9. Even when they see the results with their own eyes, they decide to shut their eyes and ears

10. Oh me too. I was talking about this book in real life and there was a man who mocked me and it made me feel f*cking sh*tty. I wasn't even interested in him, when I see people like him, I feel repulsed.. ^^

11. The kids who ran to leave comments just from the sight of this book's title are pitiful ㅠㅠ are you guys this jobless?

12. I'm so excited. Books like this one should to be read a lot

The reason why this book makes people so angry is because it is pure facts… she literally uses footnotes with evidence to show that everything she is writing reflects reality

Nothing radical about it, it simply exposes the discrimination experienced by modern women throughout the decades

it's a very relevant and important book and the movie is also well made. If you have a book or film club, it would be awesome to recommend and talk about it. If you're a teacher or educator, consider working on it with your students.

It will not only help shine a light on the staggering women rights violations in South Korea but also start a discourse of unpaid care work done by millions of women and the societal pressures they face by an old sexist patriarchy still in place in the world
