I'm sure they will miss these twitter accounts who get less than 10 likes on their posts. 😂

But this whole i-fan woke mentality of kpop artist wearing anything = CA is actually braindead.

Going "rica rica" in their chorus is apparently "mocking" asian culture (lol) and african culture (?) where is the mocking? In what way are they mocking cultures? Using something from another culture doesn't mean mocking it. And it is strange how only female groups are ever attacked for CA and never male groups... Seems like some petty form of sexism.

These people have such a backwards viewpoint and mindset, they actually are not sane.

honestly i don't get it either.  i didn't see anything blatantly offensive in that teaser, but again,  I'm not Asian so idk. **shrugs**

this is another reason why kpop ain't fun no more. everyone walking on eggshells. tsk tsk. this is why kpop should have never tried to westernize

Wait some of you guys are saying the same thing about K-POP getting too woke but when has western fans being offended about something ever affect these groups? Only rarely do some of these K-POP groups rightfully apologize for culture appropriation and I highly doubt these companies care what i-fans want anyway. Cancel culture has never stopped these idols from culture appropriation ever 😂. Now, with social media it is easier to call out these groups but they still don't educate themselves a majority of the time.

If Kpop weren't westernized, it wouldn't even exist. We would be here talking about traditional Korean music instead, assuming any of us were still interested enough to do so.

Pop itself is literally a western music genre originally alien to Korea. The aesthetics associated with it are equally alien. The origins of its performers aside, the cultural makeup of Kpop (on-camera at least) is almost entirely western. This is what's so funny to me about this particular cultural appropriation scandal; they're essentially being criticized for taking a short break from appropriating western culture so they can appropriate eastern cultures instead (while mixing them up in the process.) These fans are allowed to be offended if they want, but that aspect of it is still funny.

If Kpop actually stuck mostly to its own native culture, it would look & sound completely different. The fact that it chooses to mimmick western pop culture so closely is what attracts foreign fans & all the political baggage that comes with having such multi-cultural fandoms.

Big brain energy ^

Africa's a huge ass fucking continent with so many cultures, if Toto could name a song after it then I'm sure it'll survive a Kpop GG using it as a hook in their song.

Plus bindis are worn in so many cultures that claiming it as an South Asian thing is pretty ignorant in itself.

I thought RICA was from America not Africa lmao...i did not expect a kpop group to mention my continent like that haha...but I'm not mad, as many said above i don't see what is wrong,  i just think they wanted to have catchy lyrics like many other groups have (the fuck wa da da or boombayah or dun dun dun mean???).

People should only be "cancelled" if they are mocking a culture/country and from that teaser I don't see them being disrespectful to anyone. Twitter stans are toxic anyway, good ridance i say.

Bang Chan got criticized a lot and I've seen it with several other boy groups as well.

I agree that I don't see the mocking.

woah. that lowkey bash at traditional korean music yikes.....lol

Well i can speak from experience that this wokeness about CA was not a thing literally at all until kpop began to PROMOTE to western audiences like it does now. And I didn't create western music and I don't OWN western music, so what gives me the right to say who can be influenced by it or inspired by it. I'm honestly tired of this western superiority mindset a lot of the newer kpop fans tend to exhibit. Like the world does NOT revolve around us. Every thing associated with kpop did NOT start with us. Some people don't want to accept that though.

And if we want to take it back to the old days of YG when kpop was still being born, let's talk about Perry. He is the original in house producer for YG. He produced all the albums for YG's 1st gen artists, as well as bigbang. He basically TRAINED the Teddy we all know today. Guess where Perry is from? California! He grew up in the belly of west coast hip hop. He took what he had grown up with and experienced, to Korea and made it apart of his craft. So are you saying that's also wrong? That someone who literally grew up and traveled back and forth from his home in cali and his home in korea, is wrong for wanting to incorporate the music they grew up on and love into another cultures?

Like...ya'll seriously need to come off this pedestal. It's really ruining the enjoyment of kpop in general.

I never said anything was "wrong" with being inspired by western music or culture, the originality or lack thereof of Kpop has nothing to do with a narrative of "western superiority," and I am not a "newer Kpop fan." You've made a whole lot of assumptions just because I pointed out a simple truth about one of your biggest interests that you can't accept (this seems to be a common theme with you lately), all of them wrong. And if anything, you've just helped reinforce my point that Kpop is mostly a copy of the western pop industry, right down to its origins and the people who helped create it, so thanks for that. You can go back to defending Seungri oppa now. Make that pedestal nice and shiny.

Ma'am please allow me to introduce the 'ignore user' button. It can be found by hovering over my name and clicking. If you don't like my opinion, that's fine. You don't have to see it, by kindly clicking that button. Thanks
