[theqoo] TAEMIN'S TRAINING CAMP COLLEAGUES SHARED ABOUT HIM IN FB COMMENTS

"I'm a colleague of Taemin-hyung who was with him at the Nonsan training camp. When we were at the training camp, he brought a lot of what seemed to be antidepressants. I remember him taking the medications every evening. Every time that happened, even if he was having a hard time, he would show his younger dongsaengs a bright image and would play well with us.
I heard talks about how he was having it hard because of the chronic diseases he had prior to enlisting. But he was a hyung who always tried his best and endured through everything in every drill.
I hope that nobody judges on him"

"I'm a person who was evaluated(?) with Taemin-hyung. We spent around 2 weeks together. Because of his depression and panic disorder, he took medicines everyday. But even so, it was still difficult. Even though he took 6~8 sleeping pills/pills to help with sleep every night, he would still wake up often due to nightmares. So he took additional medicine at night because even that much wasn't enough.
But even so, he was always smiling and giving advices to people who spent their evaluation time with him.
Despite his sick body, he was the good hyung who took care of others even better than himself.
He was the kind hyung who gave us strength and supported us when we had to separate at the end.
He said that he was scared of what people would say once he gets out.
So I will be very thankful if you don't judge a sick person"

I hope he overcomes this ㅠㅠㅠ

original post: here

1. This breaks my heart ㅠㅠ I hope that he doesn't blame himself and that he stays always healthy ㅠㅠ

2. I'm a fan and this seriously made me tear up

3. "He said that he was scared of what people would say once he gets out"<< is being scared of getting hate because you're sick real life?... Seriously, I don't want to live in this world anymore

4. Even the fans didn't know that he had depression... I bet that their shock was even bigger... what is happening

5. Aido.. I'm not a fan but this upsets me.. I bet that the fans are sad too

6. I kept thinking about this so I'm commenting here again... I don't know what his image is on broadcast since I'm not a fan but seeing how he's unable to sleep, how he barely gets any sleep even with a handful of medication, how he has nightmares is just ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ I get that becoming a celebrity comes with its risks but I feel like he went through too many hardships at such an young age...

7. Depression and panic disorder..... wow ㅠㅠㅠ
8. Ah I feel like we won't be able to protect his private information anymore, so sad ㅠ

9. He's been in the military for over 200 days and normally, he would've been promoted to corporal level next month.. ㅠㅠ just how hard has he been enduring thisㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ don't be sick Taemin-ah ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

10. Ah Taemin-ah, I wonder when all of this hardship began..

11. Even a celebrity as clean as Taemin, he probably heard all kinds of words from that world. Being a celebrity is such an extreme job

12. If he was having it so hard that he's not able to sleep even with 6-8 sleeping pills ㅜㅜㅜㅜ I really hope he gets better ㅠㅠㅠ

6-8 sleeping pills?? jesus christ that is not good at all

Nope it isn’t, normally the doctor usually tries to wean you off not increase it.

I feel really sad for him, on top of being sick his personal details are now out for everyone to see.

how? you can see in his face that he has depression.

I'm just shocked with the amount of pills he takes in the evening.

6-8 sleeping pills... that's just extremely worrying. I've felt he has such a predisposition to depression but I never thought it's this bad.

Some of the other testimonies I read is that he's been having not only nightmares but also anxiety and panic attacks at night. It's triggering. The fact he tried as hard as he could to stick it out and made it this far for 8 months despite the fact he's been suffering from these conditions way before his enlistment, must've been hell to deal with. And then he took care of dongsaengs and put others first before himself despite his illness.

Taemin is a very private person and seems like the type that would hide his problems and condition from everyone/outsiders because he doesn't want people to worry about him. That's why alot of people including fans are in shock about his mental health condition being reported in the media because nobody had any idea unless if you're familiar with his condition and able to see the signs and sense something or if you're a trained professional who's able to diagnose. He usually has such a happy go lucky and jovial demeanor from the outside that you won't be able to tell that he's suffering on the inside. Depression is scary and it has no certain look.

If you can pls send him supporting messages on his instagram and/or any of his mvs. I heard his fansites/fanaccs on twitter are doing a project to leave supporting, uplifting and cheering messages for him.

I happy that training camp colleagues are supporting him and squashing negative rumors, but I just wish they'd left out how much medication he has to take.

I just want someone Taemin is close to give him a big hug and be there for him. He's in a fragile state and I hope he can recuperate privately in peace.

It's mind-boggling that since he already had medical records stating pre-existing mental health condition, how do they think he's fit for active duty? How can the doctors even allow and enable it? Would've been better if they let him do public service in the first place. I hope they go easy on him now bc his condition has become severe.

Those "pills" are alarming. I know that the transfer allows him to be in his own house which is better than the barracks but afaik he lives alone. I hope there's somebody close like family member who decide to move in so they're there to monitor
and keep a close eye on him to make sure he's okay for at least the remaining of his enlistment.

Those who enlisted in public service in the first place like Baekhyun and Shownu have had poor physical condition that immediately rule them unfit to be in active duty. Unlike them, Taemin on the other hand seems to be in good physical shape to carry out activities as an active duty according to Korean Army as he passed the health test. From what I read, at the Nongsan training camp physical evaluation, he ended up on top rank and won awards. Since he passed with flying colors, seems like the army health officials thought he's set and good without considering much about his pre-existing mental health issues. Thus, his mental health was taken lightly/neglected. S.K.'s awareness towards mental health is poor as it's not being considered and treated as much of a concern as physical health from early on, thus, unfortunately his mental health became worse.

Or probably his pre-existing mental health condition was at a manageable level during early or pre-enlistment which he's deemed to be fit enough to be in active duty as per Korean military rule. But because Covid-19 f_cked things up, unlike past years, the military now not allowing visitors and  events and perfs have been cancelled numerous times, thus the isolation is taking a toll on his mental health. Not to mention being a performer who finds comfort in performing his whole life since 14 y.o., and taking away that routine and lifestyle from him after so long, messed him up big time especially for someone who's already not in a good place mental health-wise. I heard he's slated to get promoted next month but it's good that they decided to pull him out and transfer before dragging it out much longer and who knows it would get much worse later on.

Also, celebs who enlisted in public service in the first place always get pounded on by online community. If you see some Korean comments for Baekhyun's and Shownu's enlistment announcement, they were not nice. It's fucked up when they said about Shownu (who has poor eye condition), "should just go blind". If Taemin went for public service in the first place like them, I can imagine the comments would be messed up and downplay mental health. Specifically they'd drag him and say something like, "it's easy for celebs to just say and pretend to have mental health to get an easier way out". Not to mention, there's already poor stigma towards people with mental health problems in S.K., so it's a lose-lose situation.

Even Crush who enlisted in public service got knetz mocking him especially after he was reported to be dating Joy because he gets to go on dates as public service enables him to be at home. These ppl sound like a bunch of incels who's jealous they didn't get to be at home during enlistment and date a pretty girl. They're so pressed, they always took lightly of celeb's health.
