#haruwatches boys planet planet ep. 3 performances. disclaimer: i didn't watch the episode so no context about what happened behind the scenes

SEVENTEEN - Very Nice (G ver.)
Vocals weren't giving, and this is not about them being good or bad, there was no FLAVOR to it..I didn't really enjoy it. Cong slayed, carried the team..Hiroto is cute but he didn't give what needed to be gave..Ma Jingxiang was off-beat..it just wasn't good.

SEVENTEEN - Very Nice (K ver.)
I did enjoy this more, their voices blended better together, main vocal was good...center did good...yeah that's it, there's nothing else special about this performance. I'll assume the guy whose voice cracked everytime was sick so no comment about him.

BLACKPINK - Kill This Love (G ver.)
Ok I did love this way more than both Very Nice performances. These guys are very talented, I like Zhang Hao's singing and stage presence. Matthew did really good too, he looked cool but not in a cringy way so I appreciate it πŸ«‚ I'm not familiar with the rest of the members but they did well. Good job.

BLACKPINK - Kill This Love (K ver.)
Only Gunwook shined to me, is it because the members are unpopular or is it because the whole performance was made to make him shine? I think the latter, which I don't mind because he had the best performance, good center, good dancer and decent vocalist. Overall, I prefer G group because it was flawless. I have more stuff to comment but I'm not familiar with most of them so I'll probably come back once I watch the episode.

EXO - Love Me Right (G ver.)
I don't know if the line distribution is weird but I only noticed three people on this team, and I'm strongly biased to one of them. Jay's high note was satisfying, I had to replay it! And the team energy didn't go down after it (Which is something I noticed with other group), actually they had really good synergy which made them interesting to watch for me. Center was good but outshined, Dang Hong Hai you're adorable I wish you were the center..Jay is a good singer and a good performer. Good job.

Final comment: G group did better overall, which I didn't expect! A slay methinks!!

Sorry for the big font btw I copied this from notes app

Kill This Love G

In my mind they were called 22 because blackpink are 2ne1 2.0 , so it's like 2ne2 rsrsrs

Keita sweetie thank you so much for being ~tasteful and gathering the best G trainees and choosing one of the better songs available. Keita did well as expected, he gave what was needed to be given gracefully, relaxed.

Being a Zhang Hao one pick is fun. You can always count on him to serve CUNT, and the fact that he's chinese, therefore not a lock despite his talent, makes things a little more exciting too. His vocals stood out since the song doesn't go out of his comfort range. And the leadership? Fun personality? Le main slayer oui oui, we conveniently appreciate the angel edit.

Wang Zihao and Matthew did similar, they were both solid, especially dancing. I'm not sold on Zihao because of his association with he who must not be named, but I gotta admit he was well trained (though I think their vocals are nothing extraordinary as of now). By the way, MNET was pushing Matthew HARD this episode like... I know you want him in the lineup, so do I, but chill a bit. No need to tell me how good he is every 2 seconds, I can see and hear fine, let me get to that conclusion on my own, thanks.

Chen Kuanjui was serving Britney Spears, not a compliment or a drag just an observation. He was having his Gimme More moment. Min was... there ig? I could barely see him, I don't think their plan to make him stand out worked. One of the biggest losers of being in a stacked team, because he's talented.

Splendid team balance oui oui

Kill This Love K

MNET is trying hard to villainize Gunwook and it's NOT working. He was left with not so good trainees and created a plan that would allow him to be in a half decent team. Hwanhee complaining that he was Gunwook's puppet? Well, first of all, Gunwook is like 7 years younger than him and we know how strict korea is with age. Second, Hwanhee was the ~official leader, he could have led the team if he truly wanted to.

Regarding Hwanhee: my dude, why are you screaming? I was quite disappointed because he's decent in Up10tion and, even if he was sick, he was doing too much. It's like on Masterchef, when someone has 8 different elements, lets one of them overcook but still puts them in the dish. Then, surprise surprise, they flop. You know the condition is bad so why are you gonna risk and potentially sabotage yourself? Calm down with the high notes. I could write a whole rant about trainees' obsession with high notes (and don't get me started on Hui and that LMR K group TRAVESTY/practice. D.O. deserves an apology for that)… but I won't....

Now, as for Gunwook, he did well in the dance and charisma department. He was the star of the performance not because he was amazing, but the other team mates were lacking in comparison The others were hmm there, idk their names.

The vocals overall were messy and the balance was off, although the performance turned out alright. It started strong but kept getting worse towards the end

Love Me Right G

Despite having his issues, Jay slayed. I really like his voice color. I still won't vote for him but he can be an indie artist. He sings like a western artist so it sounds fresh with kpop songs. It pains me to say this, but he really is one of the best choices for main vocalist on the show. He got the pipes AND the charisma. But don't worry, Taerae also exists.

We decided to swap Takuto with Haruto in our votes. I promised to give my vote to whoever covered Sehun's legendary line the best and Haruto ate, what else can I say. Not as well as our lord and savior but it was a cute attempt ya know.

Anthonny's voice is hmmm NOT my favorite. Personally, I think he sounds like he's having a nosebleed, like the typical nasal japanese singing. At the end of the song, he was off pitch. Anyway, he suited the song well but yeah, for a vocalist his vocals were subpar.

Winnie did well. Maybe it's because I'm used to cheateryeol's part and the fact that he's a pretty bad dancer, but I think he danced a bit too hard on his part. Haru came and went rsrsrs his line was too short but he looked adorable me thinks. Wumuti didn't standout a lot, even though he's one of the best vocals and the center. I believe the styling didn't do him any favors, I couldn't see him clearly with that hat. Those colors were ugly. It's a pity beacuse in other teams he could be a main vocalist. Dong honghai suffered from being in a stacked team. I didn't pay any attention to him AT ALL

Overall, I really enjoyed their energy. LMR is a fun song and they looked like they were having fun, so I had fun watching~

Aju Nice G

"I chose my own members, but they're not as good as I thought" - Hiroto 2k23

rsrsrsrs tea, Hiroto. I would give you my vote for that honest comment alone but to be fair you weren't any better than your team mates, were you? It appeared to me everyone was equally mediocre, aside from ouju who was rock bottom.

Ma Jingxiang was better now that he rapped, but he would benefit if he did the things he gotta do on beat like... singing, rapping, dancing... on the beat. It's frustrating beacuse he was also off beat in the signal song fancam and in his audition, it's an ELEMENTARY recurring problem.

Cong's voice reminds me of church kids. I don't like going to church, church songs or church kids' voices, fyi. He did okay, though. Still, he benefited from being in a team full of dozens, otherwise he's a passable lead singer ig. He did well by going ooooh after the failed high note rsrsrs nice save.

Ouju... no words. IIchika did ok, I couldn't tell he's 30 from this stage so i think that's good?

It wasn't a terrible performance, just unremarkable and… not good

Β

Aju Nice K

Seo Won is weirdly captivating. I don't like his voice color but his smile is contagious. Woonggi was fine, his vocals are meh but his presence makes up for it ig… almost.Β That one guy from Nine.I that mnet tried to edit as homophobic has a voice that I do NOT enjoy (the rapper). Nine.I dudes truly don't have likable voices, in MY opinion.

Seungeon was hard carrying the vocals, thankfully he's one of the best vocalists on the show and deserved getting the most votes. On the other hand, he gotta step up his stage presence because aside from vocals (that were great, right) he wasn't giving much more. Good recording artist, but performer… nah

Xiao was decent idk what else to say, he was just kinda there.

Now Mun Junghyun was... bad. Why did he have those parts? Isn't he a rapper? Wyd kid. Didn't watch their bts stuff so hopefully I get na explanation on why he decided to sabotage himself.

My House guy managed to blend in with the others by having only one or two lines. Good for him.

It was a ~nice performance. It was a good team but I think it lacked a little spice u see. They had energy but for Aju Nice you gotta go bigger, it's no coincidence it almost sounds like clown music. It lacked goofiness

Β

TL;DR

KTL G team > LMR G team > Aju Nice K team > KTL K team > Aju Nice G teamΒ πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

I mostly agree with the post above. Although I think I preferred the love me right stage a bit more than global KTL, not like it matters since [redacted] won. Re nine.i dudes, I'm not a fan of Jiho's voice at all, but I find Winnie and seowon okay, not like they're the main vocalists on the team anyway.

As for my picks...

Biased af I do think seowon did really good dance-wise and vocal.tone, but tnh he didn't challenge himself with the hard notes, so there's that. And his lack of presence in the performance might hurt his possibilities of not being eliminated.

Chen kuan jui did indeed was living the moment in the stage and he might be source of the rumor saying the global version was gay but whatever... I liked the flavor he put on that dance... The team was too uniform and lacked personality. As for his voice, I didn't really enjoy it, I already forgot aoni guess he was ok.

Zhang hao, he's a talented trainee, a part of me wishes he would be locked on the top 9 but then again I agree that would be boring. Still is sad since he truly outshines many Korean picks on top 9... As for this performance I think he could've had a bit more of charisma but he definitely has a really nice voice to make up for it.

I decided to add Jay to my lineup... Granted his cringeyness is terrible af and we all wish that tiktok video never aired but the guy serves on stage. Voice + charisma. Tnh I haven't hear another trainee with a voice I like this much, not even my other vocal pick

Yoon seung.... (cant remember his name well but K-yueha main vocal) I mean I liked his audition performance voice way more than how he sounded in this stage. I'll still vote for him for the time being because he clearly was out of his range, but I think in the end my vocal pick will be jay

I'm also voting Cong gunwook and hang hui this week since they did fairly ok?

I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting someone lmao

I didn't get to part of episode with perfs yet, but I did get to this and I agree regarding Hwanhee and blaming everything on Gunwook, Gunwook was annoying kid but to say he bullied Hwanhee into choosing him? Hwanhee has his own free will damn, he is a leader. How is 18 yo kid playing with 25yo like a puppet. In country of SK where seniority is everything, you are telling me that....no, just no. Do people even know what bullying is?

Whole other talk is whether Gunwook did the right thing choosing KTL knowing who is doing KTL in G group, imo that was overly ambitious try.

But kid just had a plan that he thought would work and was passionate about it, so mnet didn't succeed in making him villain in my eyes, or I am overly Gunwook biased

Idk if I interpreted it wrong but Hwanhee never blamed Gunwook or said anything about him being too controlling? He expressed not wanting to do KTL and then gave in when Gunwook kept persisting. Not that Gunwook did anything wrong but I dont even think Mnet evil edited him or anything, just seems like he was too confident and flew too close to the sun. But things like these happen and I genuinely felt bad for Gunwook, no need to beat himself up for it

Well he did say he felt like Gunwook's puppet, that's like shifting the blame tbh when taken in context whole edit

everyone saw how hard Gunwook pushed for KTL even when Hwanhee felt uncomfortable about it. Hwanhee simply shifted the blame where it belongsΒ

havent watched this part but this sounds more like him faking it for the sake of being good on camera... nothing humble about that. it's just how these produce programs roll

Watched the bits of the episode I didn't watch before and I wanna add a few points:

  • Mun Junghyun suffered from being in a team that had no members other than him willing to do his part so he was kinda the sacrificed lamb, I see I see, we'll let it pass for now
  • Haruto is a yassified Mark Lee and I'm kinda living for it
  • Wumuti big brain move by changing his position with Jay; main vocal parts are arguably more important in most teams
  • Krystian OUT, those communication issues were completely unnecessary and disrespectful. We don't need people who create conflicts in a group, we need to AVOID them
  • Daeul truly managed to sabotage himself and his dozen besties by forming a team with them, I can't
  • Danger (or was it Burn it Up? Can't recall) G team having Hot dude as the main vocal rsrsrs oh god that will be fun
  • Danger, Hot Sauce and Burn it Up G teams are looking... interesting
  • It's gonna be hard for LMR k group to beat G group (in my heart)Β based on the bts stuff, I fear they will go too hard
  • If Hui dares to do those notes higher that the og we WON'T be pleased
  • Sung Hanbin the star letting the other kidsΒ shine how considerate of him
  • Kill this Love K team does look good on paper: there's one of the best vocals of the show (hwanhee) (in theory), plus other trainees that did a great audition stage including the standout gunwook

i was talking about this earlier this morning actually...i feel kind of bad for him since he eventually recognized (and voiced) that he would not be able to do his part with any sort of stability...and the rest of his team basically said "well, we don't want to sound shit doing that part, either, so...."

i don't think he was overly ambitious by wanting the subvocal part, either.Β  he sounded okay (and honestly better than seo won) when initially trying out for it.Β  i think he just strained the hell out of his voice throughout rehearsals and lost all confidence about it

I agree. I don't like Gunwook either. He comes across as overly confident, unlikable, rude and douchey. Ugly visual and vocal as well. Also the fact that MNET keeps pushing him adds more to the unlikeability. Girl, you aint a all rounder with just dance, stfu.

Also, i feel like he is not well liked by the trainess. I mean all the 3 stars got chosen before him and most 2 stars as well, him being a 4 star, so he had to impose himself to the mentally weaker guy to pick him.
