i mean, jpop is an entirely different beast of an industry. the mcs/comedians hosting jpop variety shows like akbingo can shove the girls around and playfully knock their heads with their fist for comedic effect and their fans rarely get mad at it. cultural differences.

I'm sure 'comfortablity' plays a part for some, but i think it has a lot to do with they way some fans might perceive it. Esp. in Korea where they seem to have some delusion that the idols belong to them (parasocial relationships) <---this is also attributed to some i-fans. Also, they probably don't want to run the risk of falling into some hyperbolic scandal. ("Did you see how he touched her!?)

Well if you compare kpop idols interactions in the early 2000s and now... there is also a massive difference.

We barely see them interact even, the more popular the group the more reserved they are. It is to a point that is too painful to see how careful they are around each other on the stage or in any variety show.  I kind of understand why though..kpop fans are not normal, they will either ship a random couple or any two that barely interacted and make content out of it which is very embarrassing, or either throw hate and shade and make rumors on anyone that dared to interact with oppar.

Kpop idols tend to interact behind the scenes. Delusional fans might think otherwise, but in reality they are mingling in the backstage of awards and music shows, there is a lot happening in terms of friendship and relationships behind the scenes which i wish we could have sneak peak lol but welp..as long as those 13 years old think their idols belong to them...never gonna happen.

Ok I think it's a bit unfair to make this claim because 3JSB and E-girls were from the same company called LDH. They knew each other and have trained together so the interactions between them is not surprising. This is just like 2nd gen Kpop SNSD's and f(x)'s interactions with TVXQ, Super Junior and SHINee because of same company. Plus, LDH have no dating ban and they basically labelled their groups as "non-idols" so they have freedom and don't have that unspoken rule where they're not supposed to interact with the opposite sex.

I mean 2nd gen Kpop have had alot of onscreen and offscreen opposite sex interactions back then. There was more freedom that even groups not from the same company could interact like SNSDx2PM and SuperJuniorxWG. There was some backlash of course but not as severe as now. But unfortunately yeah starting from 3rd gen until now, interactions are becoming nonexistent. Offscreen-wise, well, that's a different story, hence why there's many idol dating rumors whether baseless or not.

The keyword here is "idols". You don't actually hear that much of opposite sex interactions between legit Jpop idols (from Johnny's ent, 48/46g, H!P, etc)  like LDH's either. Few years back I remember there was this special dance collab between Kiss My Ft2's Yuta Tamamori (from Johnny's ent) and some Nogizaka46 members and they got backlash. What happened was that janiwotas (the term ppl called Johnny's ent fans/ fangirls) found out that Shiraishi Mai (Nogizaka46) was a huge fan of their idol in her predebut picture/blog entry, so these crazy rabid delulu fangirls were jealous and had this assumption that she could potentially seduce, flirt and basically steal him from them. If I'm not mistaken the choreo had some skinship or in close proximity so this made the fangirls boiled with rage. The whole thing was a mess. Jealous janiwotas started shit and as a result, people posted this on girlschannel/2ch which is similar to nate/naver/pann, and people bashed Yuta and janiwotas out of spite. Link: https://onehallyu.com/topic/159114-mkshiraishi-mai-gets-attacked-by-johnnys-fans-for-doing-close-dance-with-tamamori-yuta/  Alot of people even pointed out that their dance collab stage was awkward. Even Yuta himself remarked how confused and  UNCOMFORTABLE he was. He said, "This is bad. Dancing with women."

So if we're talking about Jpop idols' opposite sex interactions or lack of thereof, they're more or less the same as Kpop idols these days. Unless these Jpop female and male idols got cast in same dramas or variety shows in which long interactions and chemistry are inevitable and impossible to avoid, opposite sex interactions are scarce.
