Article: Kim Yuna clarifies rumors with selcas "I did not get double eyelid surgery"

Source: Everyday Economy via Naver

1. [+5,234, -107] Why is it so important whether she got double eyelid surgery or not? She's Kim Yuna.

2. [+907, -15] As you get older, your skin gets thinner and sometimes double eyelids can form from that

3. [+904, -15] And would it be so wrong if she did?

4. [+313, -21] People are getting into something that's not a big deal. Just admit that you're jealous of her instead of trying to pick at something.

5. [+162, -12] Do not touch Kim Yuna. She has earned 100 years of hate-free shields.

6. [+121, -11] Pretty without, pretty with~ she's a goddess regardless ^^

7. [+96, -0] And so what if she did or didn't? This shouldn't be considered news at all. Pathetic.

8. [+90, -6] She is our nation's treasure. Do not try and hurt her.

9. [+77, -1] I think anyone who is familiar with her eyes will know what's happening. As you get older, the fat around your eyes gets thinner so it's easier for double eyelids to form. Can't believe this is even controversial. Korea is truly the #1 country of gossip.

10. [+45, -1] Was this necessary for her to clarify? It's not like she committed a crime...

11. [+42, -1] Eyes like hers can't be made through surgery. Too natural and pretty.

12. [+39, -4] Love you Queen Yuna 💜

nation's treasure queen yuna ❤️

Why are all Korean celebrities obsessed with denying plastic surgery? We ALL KNOW that they always get something done to their faces and we don't care. PS is not BAD!

there is pressure on people to have certain look that is considered beautiful, but you should achieve that look naturally...somehow. its insanity.

and when they are naturally beautiful, netizens begin saying they're too plain looking or that their personalities are boring, or they even begin to shift their complaints to their weight, lol. they can never win.

Wheesung who is like nearing his 40 had that happen to him. He has admitted on getting work done (fillers and botox) but I believe either one or both of his eyes turned into double eyelids in an interview he did like more than 2 years ago. I am not sure when it happened but it can happen.

This is a huge generalization of korean celebrities. Nobody acts this way towards western celebrities and some do lie about getting work done.

They said "older" not "old".

Anyways, idk if she did it or not but this is just my two cents. My eyes are starting to form a shallow crease even though I'm young. Sometimes it's just a crease on one eye, like Taehyung, who is young and formed a crease on only one eye.

Not denying that a lot of folks get that surgery done but From what I understand it can also develop naturally as you get older? eg. Seulgi's pretty young and she says she's starting to see where creases are forming over her eyes. In a couple years she'll probably have a double eyelid.

Not everyone can be one of the beautiful people. It's just a fact of life. The problem with Korean society is that they value good looks in places they shouldn't. The entertainment industry? Sure. It may not be "fair" having such a barrier for entry, but it's understandable. Deciding whether or not to hire someone for an office job based on their looks? Not so understandable.

Yep, I was born with monolids but my double lids naturally developed when I was about 9. Some develop theirs at birth, some in their childhood, and then there are those who develop theirs way later in adulthood.

Also there's a type of monolids called a demi-lid where it looks like double lids but they're not: http://studiobox10.blogspot.com/2011/03/different-types-of-monolids.html?m=1#:~:text=Demi Eyelids - similar to double, half of the double eyelids.&text=In the case of flat, proper colors and application techniques. Hooded eye lids also give the appearance of double eyelids when you look down but disappear when you look straight according to the link.
