Hello, this is something relating to a flatmate of mine.

A few weeks ago, when I was getting ready to go to work in the morning, I brushed my teeth and gurgled my mouth. I then spat the water I gurgled into the sink but for some reason a drop of that water bounced off the sink into my flatmate's toothbrush.

I thought about washing his toothbrush for him but then I thought even if I had rinsed it with water it wouldn't be able to get rid of the germs anyway. And I thought I couldn't wash the toothbrush with soap because if i used soap, my flatmate would get soap in his mouth when he brushed his teeth.

So i just left the toothbrush as it is without doing anything because i thought oh well when my flatmate brushes his teeth with toothpaste, it will kill the germs anyway so no big deal.

but then a few days later, I realized that was not right. I should have cleaned my flatmate's toothbrush anyway and I should have informed my flatmate that the toothbrush was dirty. so i made an unhygienic mistake.

Me reading this like :derp:

Anyway, joke aside. I understand how you feel. I would be disgusted if someone did that to me, hence I wouldn't want this to happen to someone else. That's why I have my toothbrush in a case.

I have had a few incidents like this with some of my family members, I would accidently drop their toothbrush into the sink while moving around. I just wash it out in some mouth wash & water.

I think you should've washed out the toothbrush even if it's just in some water. But it already gone bad. Nothing you can do now about the toothbrush. Or if you want to apologize to your flatmate? Which am sure he didn't even realize. And I'm sure your flatmate wet the toothbrush before he used it, so don't worry too much.

You know what? You're going to stress yourself over this because you feel guilty. Understandable, you realize what did & you know how your flatmate probably have to deal with something so disgusting. I'll am going to say is, move on, do something to forget about it. A bit mean, but that's all I can give you....

If it falls in the sink I'll just rinse thoroughly with the water.

If it falls down the floor, yikes, but I'll either tell em it fell down (either if they have replacement or I'll replace my own).

This is the case where I preferred clip and hang toothbrush holder instead of keeping in the glass.

In any case, this happened a lot to me too whether I'm the culprit or the victim 😔
