i think a lot of people are congratulating them. the only comments i've seen aside from that are the worried comments about how choi tae joon is best friends with jung joon young and lee jonghyun

Can't say congrats to them as a couple because Choi Tae Joon is/was bffs with Jung Joo-young and crew, so I'm iffy about him. Hope Park Shin Hye gives birth safely though and congrats on the baby.

Probably because the pregnancy wasn’t planned, and it’s tacky to have a baby out of wedlock.

same. Unless he's distanced himself from the crew since the molka scandal broke out and has learned to respect women (in general, not just PSH), it's hard for me to be happy for them.

Why is that tacky? Not everyone wants to get married. But for me it would be tacky not use protection. It seems some celebrities need an education on this matter.

It's tacky because having kid is far bigger commitment then marriage certificate. Marriage can be deleted/divorced/nullified. You cannot delete kid. Don't really get all those couples who get several babies but marriage is too much for them.

Not using protection in long term relationship  is decision. You weren't by their bed when they did it so you don't know if they used one and it failed, if they planned to get married either way and just happened to move the schedule because of pregnancy. 🤷

I don't think you understand my comments. I was referring to why would one be tacky if couples can also decide not to get married and still have kids. It is tacky for me to always jump into marriage if one gets knocked up accidentally. Second part of my comments were about why these announcements go hand in hand. You can't deny it is a thing within Korean artists and by their behaviour apparently protection doesn't always work. If they got married and later announced they got pregnant I would understand more, but it always looks like a shotgun wedding to me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Because I think it's still unacceptable to have children outside of marriage. Which is weird considering not many Koreans are Christian, but I guess it could be also cultural, maybe from Buddhism or Confucianism? Or simply because the legal system doesn't protect children of not-married people.

It's not my opinion, that's just how it's perceived by lots of people. In South Korea and in many other parts of the world.

Maybe to put it in another perspective but in general there is no concept of "spousal equivalent" in Asia. So legally speaking if the mother and father are not married, there might be restrictions on the father side or even to the extend of affecting a child's legal benefits/ entitlement.

For example in Singapore cash benefits (what people call a "baby bonus" to raise TFR) are only given to Singaporean child born to a married couple. Of course this is extremely unfair to single parent and have been rightfully criticised. But thinking from the government's perspective they also use marriage as a lever to control public housing so another argument is that married couples are more likely to have their shit together in the sense that they at least have a roof over their head, which is more ideal for a child to grow up in.
