Will the newer crops of Girl Grous be able to overcome aespa?

As all of you know, KPop has been atomized.

The top  5 acts this year are

bTS

Lim Youngwoong, whose grip on trot and older Koreans appear to be rock solid

NCT

IU

aespa

===

aespa is only second to BTS and IU in terms of general support, since LYW caters to another market.

Now, IVE is debuting, and next year both JYP and HYBE, and possibly YG and others, will debut their own girl groups.

Do you think aespa is now too established for the newer acts to beat them, or the newer crop still has a chance against the SM act?

This is a very strange situation, but I think any new act debuting next year and the year after will find it hard to dislodge aespa.

What do you think?

I think it will be quite hard for the newer groups to break the established wall of aespa

Also do you nave an idea about who is the person in the pic, although you probably were able to guess because I am using it?

They will be the Red Velvet of 4th gen, the new girls will be the true leaders...

Actually RV did not dominate as much as aespa is doing now.

At that time SM had 2 girl groups, RV and Lovelyz, but as late as mid-2016 GFriend was considered to be the 'real' SM group, owned by a proxy (as perceived at that point of time).

Until Russian Roulette (Sep 2016) RV was not seen to be one of the major acts.

I think not even SM thought aespa was going to hit so big so fast, I'm scared for them because it's SM, and they f up girl groups, there's a long history

smh, that's the thing about sm i hate the most (other than their ethics but that really applies to all companies). it's the fact that they aren't mismanaging simply because they're inexperienced. they purposely fuck up their girl groups, even when they're in their prime. the only thing they really know how to do is giving their idols longevity as a soloist and maintaining their brand value for their groups.

I think AESPA already defeated JYP cause Aespa is more popular than ITZY...I dont think IVE will overcome Aespa...
But the ggs debuting from HYBE's sub companies might reach upon Aespa's level...

Plus....we've heard nothing so far from YG only that the gg is debuting between 2021-22 or so....but nothing yet confirmed exactly...
Aespa , for now, is the biggest 4th Gen GG... :)

Yes, the management was always for boy groups. But it seems SM's high brass (read: Sooman Lee) is impressed by aespa's success so it will be a different story

Never understood this. How is there a long story of SM fcking up girl groups when fx was the only one getting messed up? I'm not talking about their ggs before SNSD because that was a total different market at that time, they even had boy groups failing back then. SNSD are a legend and RV received A LOT of promotions on their prime, fx wishes.

It comes from

Lee Jieun filmed a movie, but it is now defunct since the director wanted to go to a foreign country to film a sequence, an impossibility in today's world.

NCT took a long of time to hit big maybe SM never expected aespa to hit so big in their 1st year as group.

If quality and good hype remains aespa will be the toptier #1 gg.

But SM has a bad habit: when the top group hit very very big the company starts to boicot with less quality or focusing in another group because they never will let a group be bigger than the company (similar to YG and Bigbang or Hybe and BTS situations).

Oh, I'm sorry, is SNSD still as 9 and active like Super Junior? They f up that. (Plus their 10th anniversary was really rushed, like really?)

f(x) is the major face of it, like wth was that about.

Red Velvet is the major exception to this. Unlike f(x) and SNSD, they have promoted every single year (except 2020 for obvious reasons) with at least 2 cbs per year.

I say long history because in their other two GGs, almost every single year something happened with their schedules or releases.

And their bgs? All active and together (except with DUIs and stuff like that)

Super Junior = still together and active with THEIR OWN LABEL after 15+ years

SHINee = still together and active after 10+ years

EXO = still together and active until last year approaching their 10th year

NCT = every single year a cb or more units

I need to see how they will manage Red Velvet through their 10th and how is aespa doing until their 7th to change my statement, but I stay by my words.

SNSD losing members and being inactive isn't SM's fault. SNSD had a great run

I obviously disagree. Mostly because their comments during the 10 years were about no "having" cbs more than "don't want to cb" and even now the member that are still with SM and not promoting.

I think they could have them if they wanted them enough to clear their schedules and pull strings. It's not like SM would throw away money, but the members' individual schedules probably got in the way. SM would make much more money out of a SNSD comeback than a Hyoyeon solo.
