Granted, there is one last remaining member of 2nd Generation which is still relevant today.

However, the last remaining member of the 2nd Gen already outlived IZOne, Gfriend and Lovelyz, and probably many more.

The 1,340 years old singer has outlived quite a lot of acts, but it is likely that she might even outlive the 4th Generation of Kpop, but let's not push ahead of that.

How do you think about the 2nd Generation outliving the 3rd Generation? Do you feel sad, angry or resigned about it?

It is nothing short of irony that the singer, when younger  , had menaced the 2nd Generation like hell and looks like she will also outlive the 3rd Generation. If that is not absurd I don't know what is.

in every generation there are those who otlive some of next generations acts its not a surprising thing and there are many of 3rd generation acts that will outlive some 4th generation

just because couple of groups disbanded doesnt mean anything? I think best music came from 3rd generation imo

In KPop, someone outliving his or her generation is unknown. Occasionally such people have one hit much later after their peak, but IU is the first in the history of Korean Pop who gets to outlive her generation significantly and still regularly beats acts from 3rd and now 4th generations.

But are they winning duels against the newer generations?

Yes, although not on IU's level, Shinee's cb earlier this year managed to win quite alot on music shows, beating several idols from younger gens. They're the 2nd bg with biggest digital points and charting this year (BTS being the first). They're even slated to win Gaon awards digital for the month of February. They're still nominated on MAMA and MMA even after 13-14 years in the industry. the same can't be said by not only most 2nd gen but also plenty of 3rd gen and 4th gen groups.

Not only them but I predict SNSD will do extremely well if they make a reunion cb next year. You're forgetting that they're not over and neither have they disbanded. They're just on a long hiatus but once they make a cb, since the public are anticipating them, for sure this former ngg is gonna slay the charts and evoke nostalgia among Koreans.

Ofc IU is queen and all but she's not the only surviving 2nd gen.

Taemin is now in the Army. I think that like most mature groups, they will concentrate on individual activities and only promote together every 2-3 years.

That's what they were and have been doing. Where were you when everyone from Shinee sans Taemin enlisted around the same time in 2019? They took 2 year hiatus because of that and after they were discharged last year, Shinee made a cb earlier this year and they're still relevant and doing well. They might not have a cb next year (2022) but judging by Taemin's official discharge date which will be late next year, Shinee's next cb will probably be anytime in 2023 (or early 2023 if Taemin gets an early discharge). He's the only one left to serve and after his discharge, Shinee is basically free from military and can probably make a cb every year...that is, if they want to.
