anyone else hardcore regrets not checking out some groups' music earlier?

i've been into kpop since late 2016/early 2017 but until like early last year i only cared about 2-3 groups and only listened to their music, because i just didn't care about anyone else and couldn't be bothered to check them out. like i knew about a lot of groups and could maybe name a song or two, but i just didn't listen to any of their music except certain songs if they were popular in the community (like blackpink/twice title tracks, nct regular, pentagon shine,... songs everyone knew about)

the regret really hit me when i was listening to izone's music for the first time and i thought "damn i really could've enjoyed these masterpieces before they disbanded". so mad at myself smh

Not really. Like I was a hardcore f(x) stan from 2010 till 2012 and then I saw a collab with SHINee and damn SHINee is so good but i never felt i came late to the party. Eventually, I came to like many other groups, but no one grabbed my attention and my heart as much as my OG group. Nowadays I really like Jungwoo but i dont think i would have taken easy his hiatus. I think I came to like the groups I like at a very good time :3

I only regret not getting into kpop 10 years earlier, the iconic girl groups were releasing some quality music and Im pissed I was not there to witness that era.

coming from a long time jungwoo stan, his hiatus was not easy on us. so if you stanned him recently it was a good time to start tbh. 🤷‍♀️

I have good timing. I actually started as a Victoria/Krystal fan and then f(x); and I actually came to like f(x) right before Amber ended her hiatus AND f(x) got their first win :). So regarding Jungwoo, I'm really happy because this was my first NCT comeback and this Sticker/favorite era, Jungwoo is shining so much and he has proper screen time, so even if a stanned him in the kick it era I would've been mad for the lack of screen time 😡

re: SNSD, I actually liked them enough to listen to "The boys" comeback. It was huge internationally ( I mean they were already popular with Gee and Oh/RDR), but the beef between blackjacks and sones was bigger lol I was so tired of seeing them fighting everywhere.

Definitely, I was like this for almost 2 years while Izone promoted:

upset-disgusted-woman-nose-covering-port

But, common sense kicked in and convinced me to just listen to them. Then, I was all😍 and whining cause they were splitting up. RIDICULOUS, but I'm happy I finally caught on to their talents and I'm excited for what's next!

Two recent cases for me would be Seventeen and WJSN.

There's really only a small handful of boy groups I pay attention to. But after seeing an edit for them, I decided to give them a shot. Boy did I (almost) miss out

As for WJSN, I thought they executed their concept real well. But tbh, I didn't really give their discography much of a chance beyond title tracks. After going back into their catalog,  I realized that I should've gave them a fair shot earlier on.

Iz*one I guess? I only listened to la vie en rose and violetta when they gor released but I stopped checking them out after this. It was only few months ago that I realized they released other bops like fiesta, panorama etc 🤡

PS: new kpop stans saying 2nd gen groups.. damn I wouldn’t want to be in your place lol 2010-2013 era was the best one

Probably SHINee. I knew a lot of their earlier hits, but didn't get super into them.  Now they're one of my favorite boy groups currently active.

^ me me me ^

also this is kind of random, but I really liked onf's music after binging it

I can't really relate much to OP though, because back in the day I would listen to EVERYTHING that came out, but as kpop became more and more saturated, I just kind of didn't have the energy to sit down and listen to a wide variety of groups

I'm trying to get better at it now though

for me, girl groups in general. i started following EXO in 2013 because i wanted to fit in with my new classmates (they were all Exo-L or Exotics back then) i knew nothing about kpop then i found out about AOA's Like A Cat and EXID's viral Up&Down in 2015. (gg music era 2014-17 were great imo KARA, Sistar, F(x), Apink, RV TWICE BP etc) and there's no turning back for me. i'm a gg stan now.
