Article: '161 counts' Jung Ilhoon submits large load of 'petitions' written by international fans and pleas for mercy

Source: Insight via Instagram

1. [+656] What is the court supposed to care about anything written by his international fans for ㅋㅋㅋ

2. [+356] My vote's on jail time...

3. [+291] It's obvious what those international fans wrote in their letters. "It's legal in our country..." But as you know, do as the Romans in Rome, right?

4. [+204] 161 episodes; sounds like some super long drama series

5. [+116] Enough... I want to preserve you in my memories as positively as possible so please just take the punishment that you deserve already

6. [+61] What? Petitions by international fans??? Tsk tsk tsk

7. [+31] It's habitual for him at this point ㅋ

8. [+26] How can these fans call themselves true fans??? If you're a true fan, you should be hoping that he pays the price for his crimes and that he makes sure not to cause any scandals like this again. Wouldn't that be what a real fan would do???

9. [+14] What a joke

10. [+14] What mercy is there to give? 161 counts obviously means it's habitual for him at this point. Give him mercy and he'll just go and do it again.

11. [+7] Please... just let him go. We'll never see 7TOB again...

12. [+6] How can you beg for mercy after smoking that many times?

13. [+6] Can the foreigners please just stay out of this

15. [+2] This is just instant jail worthy

Oh my god. This is going to give Seungri's fans ideas. They're already trying to contact Amnesty International because they believe his human rights were stripped away. Cause you know HE WAS FOUND GUILTY.

WHAT?!?! They can't be serious........His HUMAN RIGHTS were stripped away????? So then what about all the women who taken advantage of and drugged? What about their rights? He's a criminal and deserves to rot in jail for life.

They claim there’s no evidence of him even mediating for prostitutes.

It’s probably because the amount he bought. He bought and used which I guess made him get jail time.

I really hate korean justice system. Rapist and killers get min 5/8 years and people who don't harm anyone but themselves get half of that. It is too depressing 😔

Only thing that could change their justiciary system is for UN to sanction them or for the korean people to actually protest these laws.

I don’t know if the UN could change the weed laws but yeah if enough citizens in Korea demand a change in rape lows then change will happen. But. It’ll take years sadly.

Depends, if they want to stay part of the UN they needs to follow certain ethics. Like laws to protect gay people and make sure laws for severe crimes like rape/murder are aligned with the UN human rights. And knowing how SK needs EU and US for certain political reasons, I think they would be open for this. But the next president needs to be courageous and I don't see that happening anytime soon. So either the rest of world is going to say wtf SK or SK will fix their shit on their own time. It is geopolitics at the end of they day.

Hmmm. Very true.

I'm just thinking about that case of the brutal rapist being released and no one said a thing or tried to do anything. I'm just so...ugh about this. That case really got to me and I thought it'd help change something.

Yeah that part surprised me as well that the people didn't fight harder. Even on the 2 year old that got killed by the parents. Netherlands isn't the perfect place, especially when it comes to rapist cases, but a brutal child rapist doesn't see the light of day indeed. Hopefully SK will  be reprimanded like any other country for falling behind. And for once this will matter as they actually care about perception and protection within the inner circle.

No, the UN does not mingle in any country's justice system or legislation. They can propose guidelines for better international community relationships, but by no means are they global authorities or similar to actually enforce anything.

I do agree that their whole judicial system needs a revamping.

That's what I thought. While Korea's laws need revamping, that doesn't qualify as any violation of human rights like what North Korea does. It's up to the Korean lawmakers to change the laws.

It is not as black and white when it comes to UN stance on this.

Amnesty did do a report on human rights violations due to drug policies and many countries threw a fit about it. But it were the ones with highest drug offenders in prison, so of course they were not happy when they got called out by the UN/Amnesty. For example Philippines way of handling drug offences made Duterte relationship sour within the UN and many military relationships got worser under his administration. And they received decreased amount of UN subsidises. There is an immediate effect for when a country takes drug policies or any policy to far. UN Politicians don't advertise this, but the more a country fucks up basic human fundamental right, the less money or military support that country receives.

But this entire case does not mean Seungri gets to walk free, nor does it mean UN can help Ilhoon. Not until thousands of Ilhoons are locked up in a short period of time, only then global leaders will reluctantly have to give statement or sanction something. And I say reluctantly, cause they are not in the mood to police them when they have drug issues in their own countries as well and anything they say makes them a hypocrite for not tackling these issues in their own backyard.

Anyways, if you want more info on this. See the link below.

I'm all for him getting lighter sentence as jail time doesn't seem fair for the things he did but isn't submitting fans' petition counterproductive? It's not gonna do anything. People/court will not take it seriously.
