All three songs marked a new direction for the ladies.

2017 RedVelvet dived head first in the urban R&B/pop genre and gained the highly coveted approval from black reactors

2018 BlackPink finally filled their big sisters shoes and delivered a hard hitting club track

2019 Twice started feeling their puss and gave the girls a taste of cunt while still maintaining their cutey vibe

adding on:

blackpink and red velvet haven't really transition much.

blackpink continues to their yg-esque girl crush concepts

and red velvet is still doing their red and velvet dual concept.

both have basically stuck to their working formulas.

As much as people hate to admit it. TWICE has the most versatile out of the 3 within the last 2 years.

From sexy cutesy bop (Fancy)

To a more upbeat ballad (Feel Special)

To tropical beat drop (More & More)

To retro (ICSM)

To sexy dark R&B (Cry For Me)

 To bossa nova/Latin (AF)

I don’t see any transition for Red Velvet though. They have been doing R&B since debut. Be Natural ? Automatic ? The whole Velvet album ? It’s just that the production and the visuals of Bad Boy were less retro and more trendy so it became their first full Velvet success. As for Blackpink they’ve been doing the same music since debut too, pretty much no evolution in their discography and I say this as someone who liked Lovesick Girls and Love to Hate Me.

Twice definitely had the most noticeable growth out of the three.

Twice.

Red Velvet has been making music like Bad Boy. It's their Velvet side.

Blackpink hasn't had a change in their discography. They have their music like Playing With Fire, Lovesick Girls, Stay, Forever Young, etc and then you have Boombayah, DDD and How You Like That. Like RV, they have two sides to their music.

Twice easily transitioned while keeping their same style.

I thought their velvet songs were all covers and basically b-sides?  This was the first time they gave us a current urban bop that was the main character.
