Have y’all been keeping up with this Simon & Martina cat mess?

Simon’s response

I’m not even sure of the whole story myself but basically they’re fighting over their cat who’s ill?

Martina is upset that Simon was housing the cat with all other kinds of pets but the cat is now living with her mother

its so sad to see them go down this road. i used to watch them all the time in high school and during my early years in university.

i agree with the general consensus under the comments sections of their posts - at this point, they need to just create separate channels/profiles for all of their social media accounts. let the original eyk accounts be a memoir of the good memories and times they had. its time to turn the page and start a new chapter, for both of them...

the fact they're fighting like this and yet uploading videos on the same channel is hella weird. Also Simon's 180 transformation into ASMR speaking monk is weird but somewhat fascinating

I was just about to ask, um, what the hell happened to Simon? (ETA; My tone wasn't nice. I used to love their channel and I wish the best for both of them.)

The last video I saw of theirs was the Simon update video. Still not sure what's up with him and even more unsure why they still share a channel. I am sorry that their relationship ended up like this but fighting over a cat on youtube seems a bit much. I hope the cat is doing well and I hope maybe they operate different youtube channels in the future and that they can keep going forward acting like adults.

EDIT: So I have a few more thoughts. Simon creeps me out. I believe him as I have no reason not to but the slow quiet speech plus the therapy lingo remind me of people I met who everyone thought were so grounded but just ended up being self absorbed and liked playing the victim. I have been in a lot of therapy including some groups and there was always one like that. Also for the sake of the cat I hope they can both figure out the best way to solve this.

And finally Hot Take: Narcissistic abuse is not real. It's just abuse. Yes NPD is a pretty common mental disorder but it's still only 5% of the US population and most narcissists are not abusers as that would not help their reputations. If Simon is not diagnosed with NPD than it's not narcissistic abuse and even if he was I would be careful with that phrase. Again based on my knowledge and also knowing people who do work full time in the mental health field everyone says their wives have BPD and their husbands have NPD. Just call it abuse and describe the behaviour. Buzzwords don't help me understand what is going on. I assume Martina found him manipulative and that he played the victim but I might be wrong cus she never said that she said "covert narcissist" and "narcissistic abuse" . There is a ton of misinformation when it comes to personality disorders and people often just sorta swap symptoms around for whatever. NPD Mom or OCPD Mom or BPD Mom who knows certainly not random people on the internet with no training or a DSM-5. I am apologize for the rant but the copting of therapy terms without knowing how to use them had many many a life hard both within PD's and for other psychiatric disorders (like me!)

Who?

A (now-divorced Canadian) couple who ran the channel "Eat Your Kimchi".  They were based in Korea from 2008-2015, Japan from 2015-2020 and now they both are back in Canada.  Sometime after returning to Canada, they divorced.  They were huge among international k-pop fans in the early 2010s.  In those days, they talked about k-pop as well as life in Korea

Who?

They were popular with Kpop fans mostly due their videos about Korea, the culture and their experiences there, as well as their "Kpop Music Mondays" especially where they made weekly reviews of the latest Kpop releases back then during 2nd - early 3rd gen (around 2010-2015), which were done mostly in a parody/joking way but they've managed to make alot of Kpop fans pissed off lol and most people pointed out that they were biased towards groups from a certain Kpop company but would often mock and make fun of releases from other companies.
