and it still works. This is the first time I have dropped an electronic in water (first time I have ever dropped an electronic actually). I let my ipod dry out in the sun right after it happened, and about 6 hours later it's still working. I'm still a little worried though. I can't believe that it will come out of this with no damage, because it was literally floating in my dog's water bowl. Of course it was only in there for a second before it was out of there, but I can't help but to think that was enough time to kill it.

Does water take a while to destroy electronics? Am I claiming that my ipod has magical powers too soon? Honestly I'm embarrassed to admit that I did something this stupid.

ipods are just really sturdy, i still have and use my old ipod nano from 2007. it works pretty good even after having dropped it, spilled water on it etc

Should've riced the shit out of it. Too late for that now.. it'll be fine, though.

My friend and I were at the beach this one time, and we bought waterproof cases for our iPhones. The waves were very strong that day and he wasn't holding it tightly enough... so you can imagine what happened. Anyway, that happened, and it was a few metres underwater for 30+ minutes (it shouldn't be like that). Water was leaking through, but I borrowed some water goggles from someone and swam with the current/waves and found it.

Water was in it. Dried it off, let it air dry as well (no rice). Middle button stopped working, but it all still works nows. Worst case scenario for you would be a function not working (e.g. not charging anymore).

What kind of iPod is it? I have a iPod classic for almost 12 years now and that thing been through water, drops, hell, but works just like it did when it was bought. But I also had a iPod touch that fell in dishwater and that was the end of that iPod.

Anyway, if it was 6 hours already it seems water is all dried up. But if you are paranoid maybe put it in rice for a few more hours.
