Sports Kyunghyang has confirmed that WayV‘s Lucashas cancelled his plans to leave Korea for China. He was initially set to leave for Shanghai on September 10 at 1:55PM KST for his solo promotional activities but has cancelled his flight.

In addition, it was originally planned for WayV to go to China for promotions in October, but these plans have been halted as well. The reports claim that they have not decided on their new plans for when the group will return to China. This is not the first time a wrench has been thrown into the works for WayV, with Lucas and Hendery‘s unit single release being cancelled.

These reports of Lucas’ cancelled flights come during a time where he is embroiled in a series of gaslighting and cheating accusations from fans. He has since apologized for his actions and SM Entertainmentissued an official statement to address the matter as well.

because he has no career there anymore. his variety show has removed his face from promo stuff. working with him with these new regulations is basically asking for trouble and it’s trouble that most people in the industry aren’t willing to take.

it’s pretty pointless for him to even go back anymore. might as well stay in Korea and see what happens there.

honestly at this point, ive accepted the fact that wayv's future in china is basically donezo. and as a wayv stan from day 1 AND a nct fan from the very beginning, it rips me apart to have to watch them go down like this, but it would be career suicide to go back there given all the new extreme restrictions and government scrutiny. whether or not you find his actions reprehensible and by how much is up to you own moral compass, but apart from discussions of whether or not what he did is acceptable - what actually hurts the most is that if the allegations are true, they were 100% preventable had lucas just kept his dick in his pants... like. everything is literally just self-inflicted (again, assuming the allegations are true). im just so freaking disappointed. he's not just a background member of nct/wayv, he is literally the center, face of the group, and visual of wayv and is literally their pillar. he had a fixed cast position on a hugely popular variety show. he's also a key member of nct, AND superm, which was curated by lee soo man himself.

and it sucks that all the other wayv members are paying the price for this too - both the group's career, as wayv, and their solo careers. winwin in particular was rising in popularity, if even by a little, and now all that momentum is lost. wayv was also just on the cusp of their comeback, and thats not even considering nct2021, and of course, jalapeno with hendery, who practiced for nothing...

There’s not much point in going there anymore, government censorship pretty much bars them from having an substantive career there. I’m not sure how far this tyrannical commie-bullshit goes, but I’m willing to bet that they won’t be allowed to even perform in China.

Because if for nothing else, even his shitty behavior aside — the rest of the world isn’t going to follow China in this, you’re an idiot if you think so. So, you’re left with two choices, follow China in this — or cut it out.

It is a huge set back for them, but there isn’t much point in going back. What are they going to do? Retire and work at the mall?

As far as WayV and NCT go, they’re a bunch of good looking kids — they’re talented, they’ve got charisma. They’ll bounce back.

i wonder if they'll kick him out or not.. i read knetz comments and they're definitely not as apologetic as international fans, far from it. the mass majority of them are advocating for him to get the boot and leave nct

but nct has a big international fanbase so maybe sm cares more about the opinion of those than knetz

nevertheless, he f**cked up wayv's career as a whole. i feel especially bad for hendery, as they were about to have a subunit release together and they had already prepared everything for it and probably worked really hard. i hear wayv is supposed to have a comeback later this year too, so i wonder how that's gonna go...

First, Lucas's scandal started the whole mess and then, the new rule set by CCP is pretty much the nail in the coffin not only to Lucas's individual career but also the whole of WayV's in China.

So, WayV is pretty much banned in China atm mainly due CCP killing off their idol industry including Kpop groups and groups based in Korea.

The only entertainment industry that they might be able to promote is the country their main company is based in: Korea. But even then, Koreans would definitely not be accepting them as the racism and the anti-China sentiment that is rising rapidly rn. Not to mention, Lucas's scandal has stained WayV's image in Korea where they're now known as that the group has a scandalous gaslighting cheating member. Plus, there's alot of other Kpop groups in Korea with Korean members singing in Korean that they can stan, so, why would they be interested in a group full of foreigners especially ethnically Chinese? One of the things that fueled anti-China sentiments in Korea was the historical K-drama (that got cancelled earlier this year just after 2 eps) for having a Chinese writer who changed Korea's history and aesthetics, making it look more like a Chinese historical dramas on iQiyi. Also the mistreatment and ethnic cleansing toward Uyghurs. It doesn't help that WayV and other Chinese Kpop idols posted their support towards CCP. Regardles whether or not they were forced to, that's just not a good look to Koreans. So even if WayV is able to have a career in Korea, I doubt they would have much opportunities  and interests.

If Lucas's scandal never happened, I could at least see him having a career in Korea's variety shows. He could've been the next Henry or Jackson. But I don't feel bad for him at all. He got what he deserved due to his trash personality and stupidity.

I actually feel bad for the other members. It's a pitiful situation for WayV sans Lucas tbh. They're unlucky and never got their big break so far. I think they will pull an EXO-M, fate-wise. Their main focus  and activity would just be a part of the NCT main group comebacks until their contracts expired. I think Xiaojun is talented and good-looking but he is very underrated, underpromoted and his potential is wasted by being stuck in SM. He should definitely leave SM after his contract ends and then launch his career in C-ent as a solo artist, I can see that's what he's meant to be. I think the C-ent is pretty much going back to the era 10 years ago where the music industry was mainly full of solo artists who were talented, deep and non-gimmicky/non-superficial.

With or without Lucas, I think they can, NCT in general.

But if I were an executive at SM, and I was considering how I could save WaveV — I might consider releasing him.

Because assuming that they’re able to build a profitable following in SEA, or in the west — the same questions are going to come up.

I'm confused why can't the rest of wayv promote, what is the new law? All of wayv are Chinese except ten.

Hendery and Yangyang aren't mainland Chinese, also I doubt their concept for the next album adheres to the correct beauty standards that China is enforcing. Also even if Lucas doesn't participate in promotions, their Chinese fans might still boycott the album as long as he is part of WayV. And China might ban more fan groups if they don't. The chances for Chinese promotions to yield positive results are pretty low.

All of WayV members' ethnicity is Chinese including Ten actually, but only 3 of them are from mainlaind China: Winwin, Xiaojun and Kun.

Hendery born and grew up in Macao.

Yangyang's nationality is Taiwanese. Born in Taiwan, grew up in Germany.

Lucas is half-Hong Kong Chinese and half-Thai. Born and raised in Hong Kong.

Ten's nationality is Thai and although his name doesn't sound Chinese at all, he is actually ethnically Chinese just like the rest. Anyone who is of Thai nationality no matter what race/ethnic/descent, adopt Thai names and identity.

He might end up like Suju Kibum - under contract, but with no promotions and work

Looks like sm gonna continue sucking  his balls... poor wayv

looks like they aren’t. they’re editing him out of things. superM released a new behind the screen video and they completely cut him out, even the intro.

I wonder if they did this because superM allegedly lost a huge endorsement deal because of his scandal. maybe others were going to pull out too.

but I don’t think I’ve ever seen sm do something like this. especially not one of their favorites. they tend to stick with them.
