admittedly i'm a bit of a tiktok boomer…i've never downloaded the app or made an account, and even though i enjoy some of the ones that pop up on my instagram explore…i still don’t plan on using it

Tiktok too, i'm kinda of rejecting this kind of fast content and now even professionals are trying to promote themselves on Tiktok because it's harder to find work unless you have your own brand on the internet

SAME!! I dislike the purpose and overall climate around that app. 

Also the whole generation "war" going on on social media. It's purely an American thing so I'm not affected by it irl but it's hard not to see that bs online. I grew up watching and being entertained by millenials on the internet so why the heck would I bash them for the stupidest reasons like the types of pants they wear???

I probably have other examples that I can't think of atm. If I remember more of them later on, I'll just edit my post.

Haha I came here to write "tiktok" but it's what the thread is about...

It's not very politically correct to say "I don't like it because it's Chinese" but from the bottom of my heart I know that app is used by the Chinese government to advance their facial recognition software, and that shit freaks me out

Something I DO refuse to do is be active on any kind of social media, I used to be active on Instagram before but now my pics are all archived and I only use it to chat, my Twitter account is priv with no followers (My personal bookmark + rant space), Facebook is...well...not like anyone uses it anymore. The only place I'm kinda active on is Discord.

Agree the generation "war" is so annoying. I'm a cusper between millenials and gen z and I feel in the middle of this stupid war because I can relate to things from both.

Tiktok for sure. I only use it to see videos but I don't do any dance challenge or video myself because it's mostly teenagers and early 20s people doing it and I'd feel awkward lol.

I used to dislike TikTok but your FYP is curated just for you! I have videos that are curated for me. Kpop, music facts, comedians, etc. I post on there but it's kpop unboxings so the older kpop fans don't feel weird. 

But a popular thing I refuse to participate in now? Among my age group, FACEBOOK. I refuse to use that app outside of my photography business ever again...unless it's to mess with people.

Tiktok. I thought about making one to get uber tiktok famous while having no talent, but then I discovered that you can get like 100 million followers or views yet still not make that much to live off on so..... 

 

Also streaming services & a lot of popular TV shows. I prefer films.

Well I have Tiktok and I love it. I had the same opinion as y'all before downloading it. 

Like every other app, you have to curate your feed "fyp (for you page)" and it gets VERY specific. Like... Tiktok algorithm is crazy, it's not like anything I've ever seen. It targets you and tailors your fyp to your tastes perfectly. Most of what I see are dogs, cats and pets videos etc.  

And well populae things that I don't like are partying, getting drunk, videogames, and certain tv shows like Game of Thrones etc
