The difference is your brother hasn't toured the world several times doing dance battle against full grown adults, hasn't debuted as a back up dancer and hasn't been doing variety show. The kid is not our average kid.

I did mention even with training like this boy has it's still not ok. He is not mature enough to handle the pressure. Have you seen kpop?? They are so hard on idols and he is 12!!

A great example off the top of my head is G-Dragon being a child star at 6 and releasing a song at 13. Not only was he extremely depressed by the time he was in his 20s, he also developed an eating disorder a few years ago due to the pressure he still faces as an adult that grew up in the industry. Do I think being a child star contributed to his mental issues? Absolutely. He's mentioned it before.

Just because this kid is super talented doesn't mean that he won't escape any problems when he gets older.

Also there are terrible people in the industry I bet if it was a girl the discussion would be a lot more different, is not about if he can handle the idol life is more about the idol industry.

Basically this. Being exposed to sexualization, grooming, saesangs, rumors, hate, etc from literally 12 can damage your mental health horribly.

I understand this might be hard to think about but we worry about the sexualiztion of 15 year old idols...I don't think some fans will stop at 12. It will mess him up and I am not ok with that outcome. Just because he is a boy does not mean he is any less at risk. Yes there are creepy uncle fans but their are creepy auntie fans too or even just people around his age who think they can just say anything cus w they are saying it on the internet and not right in front of him. Companies don't protect idols or shield them from world. Even if he can forgo sleep during a developmental growth spurt can he deal with the rest of it??

In fact Taemin used to have a lot of fans that called themselves "pedonoonas" or some disgusting shit like that, and more recently, some Enhypen members like Ni-ki (15), Jungwon (17), Sunoo (18 but he was 17 a couple months ago) have been sexualized by adult fans basically since they debuted so...:/

The growth spurt thing is a good point too. Idol schedule is horrible with lack of sleep, diets, etc. That might be "okay" for adults or older teens but not for a 12 y/o that hasn't even hit puberty yet.

I’m so scared for when he debuts and older noona fans will eventually find him. Terrible to think about.

Yes it's so sad that older teens have fans like that too. I wish it was not seen as a given in the industry but I am even more mad at the companies! The dark sensual concept is trending and the styling and makeup make them look older (see the picture of the 12 year old on this post) I am all for just debuting idols later overall. Nobody deserves such harassment while they are still growing into themselves (nobody deserves it at any point but some adults choose to be sexual as part of the performance and I think that's fine and fan reactions are fine as long as they are not super graphic and whatnot)

Random thought but the way they styled him and the makeup reminds me of toddlers and tiaras. They were made to look like adults and sometimes to dance and perform things too adult for them but they still looked like kids at the same time and it was kind of uncanny valley.  Tanaka Koki deserves a successful debut just maybe when he does not look so out of place in his group due to looking like a child (of course cus he is one)
