IZ*ONE Kim Chaewon to debut in HYBE x Source Music’s new girl group.. Pursuing Sakura recruitment for joining a new girl group

According to an exclusive media outlet report by Star News on August 17, former IZ*ONE member Kim Chae Won is headed to HYBE Labels.

Star News stated that Kim Chae Won is currently in talks to debut in the upcoming HYBE x Source Music girl group, a project that has received massive media attention for the past few years. Furthermore, it’s reported that HYBE and Source Music is currently in the process of recruiting 2~3 former IZ*ONE members for their new girl group, including Miyawaki Sakura, whose contract discussion with HYBE made headlines last year.

Insiders say that HYBE has so far run into some difficulties in maneuvering around Miyawaki Sakura’s contract with her Japanese agency. The other IZ*ONE member in talks for recruitment, whose identity has yet to be revealed, is still undecided as to whether or not they want to pursue a career in acting or continue in the idol industry.

Meanwhile, Source Music’s first new girl group as a part of HYBE Labels is expected to have around 5 members. If HYBE x Source Music succeed in recruiting 3 former IZ*ONE members to their new group, it will have the largest number of members from the former project group of any succeeding IZ*ONE-counterparts. cr

1. Hul Source Music’s new girl group has 2 or 3 members of IZ*ONE? Are they trying to get a fandom?

2. What?.. There are 2 members of IZ*ONE in a rookie group..? I didn’t expect that at all

3. Has her contract with Woollim ended?

4. Only GFriend is pitiful

5. I hope Chaewon does well wherever she goes

6. So it’s like a unit group of IZ*ONE..?

7. If it’s Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Kim Minjoo and Heo Yunjin, the combination of faces is amazingㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. But she just took the profile photos 6 days ago ㅋㅋ Are you kidding me?

9. I’m really looking forward to Min Heejin’s girl group, so I don’t like this.. I want to see new faces

10. Damn, didn’t they renew their contract with GFriend because of this? They are ba$tards

1. So it’s confirmedㅋㅋ

2. Wow daebak

3. It seems more believable than any articleㅋㅋㅋ

4. But why were Chaewon’s profile photos in Woollim taken at the beginning of August?

5. So Sakura and Kim Chaewon will be members of HYBE’s new girl group

6. Daebakㅋㅋㅋㅋ

7. Please recruit Minjoo too…

8. They are members who are popular in Japan

9. I’m looking forward to this new girl group

10. I think this new girl group will target the Japanese market

Chaewon will fit in well.

OT: I do wonder what's happening at Woollin tho...

I feel like Woollim didn't know what to do with Chaewon since they just can't debut her in a new gg and adding her to Rocket Punch would have been a risky move (taking into consideration all other post-PD groups). Now I wonder if they might have possibly reached some kind of agreement with HYBE where they could share some of Chaewon's profit (similar to the agreement they made with CJ as an IZ*ONE member). That would explain why Woollim released Chaewon's profile pics recently, cause she would technically still be under Woollim. I still think debuting Chaewon and Eunbi as a duo would have been the best outcome. But who knows.

I'm pretty sure HYBE saw how desperately fans wanted IZ*ONE back together so they decided to gather all the members with uncertain futures in their companies to create their own mini-IZ*ONE. Smart move but it could work against them if they don't give them that IZ*ONE concept.

Honestly this! There aren't many duo's out there and Eunbi's and Chaewon's voices & visuals flow really well together. I feel like they could've made an impact as a duo.

This type of deal would benefit Woollim the most. Hybe do majority of the work while Woollim profit off them.

Conspiracy theory - Hybe plans to aquire Woollim in the near future o.o This is just the start of the two companies building a good business relationship.

There are not many in kpop for a reason...Groups are more profitable.

And HYBE will profit off IZ*ONE's fandom (especially the Japanese fandom).

I understand companies not wanting to debut duo's from scratch but Eunbi & Chaewon are already known and well-liked by the public + they also have strong individual fandoms. It's also just the two of them, meaning fans won't have to force themselves to like the "new faces" as there aren't any. They're also used to being shipped together in IZ*ONE as they both came from the same company so I don't see their fandoms fighting eachother either. Their talents are compatible, their visuals are compatible, their personalities are compatible...In other words, Woollim could've made it work.

Yes It would work but i can also see why Chaewon picked another option. Not only are duo less profitable no matter how popular they are...duos are not as active as groups. Also the fandom culture in general support groups more. If Chaewon wants the full kpop idol experience then being in a group is the best pick. On top of that a big company will better her chances.

She can always do a collab later Eunbi.

Eh... I would way rather chaewon debuted solo I have no energy to be following a group but she is my ult 😐 if there's other izone members in it tho it will prolly be very likable for me. But sumn about it is not very believable to me. Like she was in person at eunbi live the other day, practiicing at woolim, and why b would woolim being putting out profile etc recently if it's what ppl say that this was arranged in June. Could be true but I don't make sense of it. I just looked up more and apparently to rumor both company said they can't confirm, the whole thing is prolly an attempt but nothing secured yet. The more I think the more I like the idea of an izone /pd48 subunit of sorts, and this is better than her debuted in woolim group for me but I'm not getting my hopes up until it's confirmed, I never fell for the reboot project, they won't get me with this either.

Then that brings me back to my original point, the deal will benefit Woollim the most right now.

not if Hybe takes most of Chaewon's profit.

Why Woollim would do that? Because maybe they think they will earn more this way instead of fully selling Chaewon's contract. Let's say Woollim sells Chaewon's contract for 1 million (just an example), but Chaewon makes more that that in the next 5-7 years.

This kind of negotiations is pure speculation at the end of the day, just like when you buy a share from a company.

Even if Hybe takes most of the profit, Woollim is still making money for basically free.

I agree it's all sepcualtion.

well that's what happens when you sign up an artist under your company and the artist becomes popular, you basically win the lottery ticket. Woollim owns Chaewon's contract and they can decide to do what it's best for them.

True. But its also very rare for companies to do this. Since they're selfish.

Therefor imo either the reports about Chaewon leaving Woollim will end up being true...or this Pd48 unit is temporary...or Woollim will be doing something too.

Fr...Chaewon was one of the most popular Iz*one members in Japan

If this is their pattern, the next iz*one members they are interested in could be Minju or Yuri!

Seems like Yuri would be a easy transfer. She was under OTR/CJ with fromis_9 (who is now under Pledis/Hybe).

Plud CJ has a partnership with Hybe. The subsidary Belift which Enhyphen is under
