Kim Chaewon, a former member of the girl group Izone, will be reuniting with fans by joining the rookie girl group under the umbrella of HYBE LABELS.

 

As a result of Star News' exclusive coverage on the 17th, Kim Chaewon signed a contract for the HYBE label.

 

Kim Chaewon will be active as a member of the new girl group under the HYBE label Source Music. Kim Chaewon, who was a member of Woollim Entertainment, has confirmed, at the end of June, on a confidentiality agreement signed between the two companies.

 

This girl group, which consists of about 5 members, is expected to have 2 or 3 members from Izone. Some of the cast members who appeared on 'Produce 48', but did not make it to the final group Izone will also likely be selected as members.

 

Japanese member Sakura is also in the process of being recruited in this girl group, but the process is being delayed due to difficulties in negotiations with HYBE and the Japanese agency. Another member from Izone is known to have some issues joining the group because she is more interested in acting than being a singer.

Well, this is a smart move on Hybe side...Chaewon is a good vocalist and popular with knetz/kfans.

True. A whole ace.

Tho her popularity in Korea is more of a highlight imo. It's not easy measuring up to kfans standards. 

Also lets be real, big companies don't tend to have a problem gaining fans in japan due to the large kpop niche and concert culture over there. With or without Chaewon (or even Sakura) the upcoming GG will probably do well financially in Japan with time.

Ofc, but having both Sakura and Chaewon will gain more interest to the group from the start increase sales.

Agree

I feel Korea is gradually waking up to her. If i remember correctly she had a huge increase in popularity. Especially among knetz. (Around time she cut her hair?)

Yep, her short hair made quite a buzz, but that was in 2020 haha

I am happy for Chaewon if this is true. Woollim didn't let her join Rocket Punch and the chances for a solo become even thinner after Eunbi had her own. She was stuck and it would have been a pity for her to stay on the side-lines until Woollim debuted a new girl group or decided to do something with her. 

I think it's a good decision for HYBE as well. Chaewon is very pretty, she is lead material in both singing and dancing, she is charismatic on stage and her fandom is on a steady growth since Fiesta era. She is one of the most popular IZ*ONE members in Japan too. 

I hope she and her group do well in the future!
