Pros and Cons of fromis_9 joining Pledis?

None.

Its the same management. They just created a shell company, Off The Record, two years ago when Pristin was dumped by Pledis, so IZONE and Fromis wouldnt get flack from angry Pristin fans, for Pledis dumping Pristin to manage IZONE and Fromis.

pros: the quality of music videos? we go was already a major step up from love bomb, fun (although that has the best replay value and concept), and feel good. it's not going to be anything major, but i hope it's just a few more sets rather than their standard one set only for group dancing + solo shots in different small rooms.

i wanted to say songs as well, but their songs have been great from the start lol. since they're in pledis, i can see them using their resources and connections to get fromis_9's songs playing in bgm for variety shows more often.

i'll also add in album packaging and concepts overall. i think pledis in general are a pretty creative company and i've always really enjoyed the aesthetics of svt's albums lol.

cons: other than the expect mismangement (im trying to be optimistic so hopefully that pledis will actually try this time) i can see vlives and personal content might become more controlled now. idk, i just have a feeling they might be patrolled from acting like themselves and i wouldn't be surprised if chaeyoung and jiwon are going to be watched like a hawk smh.

Off the Record is Han Sung Soo, so they are managed and operated by Pledis in all but name and always have been. If I was a Fromis fan I wouldn't want my name formally associated as a Pledis girl group either - after what was done to After School and Pristin.

Pros:

fromis_9 is underrated. Being under the Hybe umbrella will give them more exposure. Being on the YouTube channel alone, will increase views.

Pledis/Hybe resources, connections and investment.

Long over due Japan debut. High expectations.

In general, now that they're solely under Pledis and not being shared with CJ, maybe Pledis will give them more comebacks

Official lightstick.

Cons:

Pledis don't have a good track record with GG. Hybe is lacking too. (tho I'm lowkwy optimistic that both will use fromis at least for now to prove they can do well)

OTR was always rumored to be a shell company for Pledis. So perhaps nothing will change with the lack of comebacks and individual activity.

CONS: Pledis is where girl groups go to die.

If they were able to fck up successful girl groups like Pledis and Pristin (who had massive potential for success and won rookie of the year).... i have little faith of them managing an average girl group. Especially when competition is at an all time high: aespa, stayc, weeekly, itzy, and succesful seniors like Blackpink, twice, red velvet.

Pros: They've been a de-facto Pledis group from the beginning, now it's just official. Hopefully Shannon, Bumzu or Woozi write their songs.

Cons: Infrequent comebacks (even less than they have now), lack of support overall and wondering where they're at all the time.

When does the Fromis V or Fromis Red and Blue subgroups debut? lol

fromis is doing much better than pristin even did for a while now, even on their debut

that's true, but it took years for fromis to build that fanbase and somewhat gp recognition due to their song quality alone.

pristin won rookie of the year, had an anticipated debut that actually charted, sold decently to which i'm pretty sure they were the best selling female rookie group with weki meki. while fromis_9 were selling around 20k until love bomb, which was more of a cult hit.

the only thing that was worrying was the drastic album sales drop off from their debut to their first and last comeback. but pledis didn't even try, lol. they had everything in their favor. they just needed a good song. that was it. groups who had more members and sold even worse than them, aka nine muses, still managed to survive for nine years, so pledis shouldn't have excuses. smh.

Most of what I have wanted to say was already mentioned.

Also, at least until Hybe sorts out its differences and/or issues with MBC, it's unlikely we'll see them appear on any program on that channel. So, from now on, it seems KBS and SBS may well be the only public channels they might be able to appear on.

Pristin won questioned rotys (Chungha had higher digitals, Weki Meki had higher physicals) and album sales were plummeting. i agree Pledis gave up on them too soon but when it comes to Pristin there are too many “what if’s” and as the years go by ppl really overestimate how they really performed…

You're right, Perhaps we underestimate and overestimate certain groups...

Adding on from r/kpop:

"Pristin debut was 43k while their comeback was 27k, both in 2017; Pristin V in 2018 was 18k. There was a sharp decline but Weki Meki has had a similar one but Fantagio has stayed with them.

In 2019, fromis joined the exclusive GG 50k sales club for a single album. At the time, they were only the 6th or 7th GG to do this. It was before Lovelyz, before OMG, before Itzy, before GIDLE, before Dreamcatcher, and before StayC. *Fun Factory* even had more sales than any single Mamamoo album at the time.

Then OTR/Pledis did nothing with them for over a year (focusing on Izone instead) losing all that momentum. fromis still hit 50k last year (albeit less than *Fun Factory*) but went almost another year without building on it and hit 50k again this year with *9 Way Ticket* barely passing *Fun Factory* while still not climbing to 60k."
