it helped that the song is pretty catchy but i don't think anyone was expecting it to do so well,

iirc they even had a schedule set for their activities but instead they turned to promoting this song, seems that worked pretty well since this seems like a big factor in them getting signed to a label so early in their careers

i really like their take on Jpop mixed with a little of EDM

a big reason for their popularity must be their big female fandom, like 60% / 70% of their fans maybe? since most members were Tiktokers / Youtubers before becoming idols i think a lot of Japanese girls probably identify with them
