And apparently later in the month, you can preorder a blind package which consists of their debut single, among other days

Get ready for a brand-new girl group from JYP Entertainment!

On July 8 at midnight KST, JYP Entertainment released a mysterious teaser for something entitled “Blind Package.” After setting the internet abuzz with speculation, the agency officially announced on July 9 what the teaser clip had been about: a new girl group.

According to JYP Entertainment, the upcoming group will debut in February 2022—making it JYP’s first new girl group in three years since ITZY‘s debut in February 2019.

The new group will be managed by JYP Entertainment’s Division 4, led by Lee Ji Young, the company’s first female executive director.

Meanwhile, “Blind Package” is described as a limited-edition package that includes the upcoming group’s debut single. The package, which will only be available for pre-sale for 10 days from July 16 to 25, will include a limited-edition CD, photo book, photo card, poster, premium membership card, random Polaroid, and more.

Tbh this all surprising to say the least. If the new gg does come next Feb, that's barely 3 years after ITZY's debut. Also, this blind package is a bit...strange though intriguing.

Ngl, >'m surprised by this. WG and Miss A had a 3 year - 3 and a half year gap between them. But Itzy is still establishing their fanbase, so I thought it would at least be another couple of years before we got this group

TWICE & Itzy were 3.5 years apart. 40 months to be exact

Oh yeah thats true too. So looks like 3 years is a common gap, besides the one between Miss A and Twice of course.

 

And lol but it's a bit odd to have 3 ggs debut in the same month: Wonder Girls, Itzy and now this one. That said, I'm not surprised by this reaction either.

True, the old man knows how to debut his GGs and catapult them to Stardom right away but then SM and YG would just eclipsed them right in the middle, moving forward.

I hope they go for a refreshing and cute concept for this ngg. It actually doesn't feel that early to me? All of jyp's newest ggs seem to have already cemented their places in their markets. The blind package is interesting but I wouldn't buy it though. Plus if it has their debut single wouldn't that hurt them since people would have already heard their debut song?

Such a tragic act for someone who claim themselves "classy and top"  and with such people from 2nd will always remember SNSD as the group with the most obnoxious and toxic fandom, well into the 4th gen

Anyways, back to Itzy, this is JYP way of saying "Itzy flopped digitally so we'll release a digital successful girlgroup"

It's a preorder, you won't receive the album until the group debuts

The pre-orders are this month, but it doesn't say when they actually intend to release the packages. I'm guessing it's likely going to be a bit closer towards their debut. but either way, it's a bit of an odd tactic to have pre-orders for something this early.

I mean, there's been speculation and reports suggesting/stating that they've been working on plans for new groups already. Most assumed that it was just the general predictions and guess work, myself included. But as pointed out before, there's a 3 year gap between most of JYP's girl groups, so I suppose in the grand scheme of things, they're right on track if they really have been planning it all out.

On one hand, I think ITZY will likely be okay. If their fandom and sales keep growing, then in theory they should be fine. But, I know a lot of fans aren't satisfied with the way Division 2 handles them. I imagine if they don't pick up the slack, then their inconsistencies will become glaring, especially if this new group's division handles them well.
