It's because there was a fad years ago on tumblr to basically "rickroll" people with Carry On My Wayward Ass because of Supernatural. It was so so so so so much worse than the rickroll though. At least Never Gonna Give You Up is a bop

Idk I don't really listen to radio or top hits playlists even but I will say... I had dance monkey on my playlists for a few weeks after a few izone members danced to it but it blows my mind I didn't know how popular it was. I found out looking at records (cuz I'm olivia rodrigo Stan ) the most days songs have been #1 on spotify and it's been g4u for over a month which I thought has to be close to top record! Sort of it's up there but dance monket has 120 days at #1 which is insane like howww it's a bop but it wears easily after like month at most. 

I'd say I'd go look at current thh, but I will tell you now I haven't heard 90% those songs that isn't olivia. 

Looking at few playlists of popular songs from recent years I'll say, say so is a cute song and cool that it boosted doja career like 10000% but nearly every other song on hot pink is better. Not a skip 100%  time but most the time. In similar vein, dua lipa current Era, I love the first 3 singles but from listening to the album on release, the singles since we're never standout tracks to me, prolly skips.

Also I may be out of the loop on western album cycle lengths but she has to end fn Era soon right tho I want another album. Maybe she cling to it bc dsn/physical etc, and the weekend blinding lights birthed this retro trendy sound that kpop followed ofc I hope her next album has that too tho bc it does seem to fit her well

Walk The Moon's "Shut Up and Dance". I hate that song with a passion. Anything Maroon 5 puts out that's not off their first two albums. Anything Camila Cabello sings in. Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" is the bootleg version of "Happy". Katy Perry's "Roar" is a soulless motivational song that those who deem themselves "girl bosses" use as their anthem.
