IRON I LOVE YOU. I love his rap style so freakin' much. His singing just draws you in. I CAN'T WAIT FOR TONIGHT GUYS!!

 

C jamm's is pretty good too! Although I think there will be tons of annoying bleeping when they air C jamm's performance tonight because of how often "shit" is said.

IRON             

The lyrics were so personal and the instrumental is gold.

It talks a lot about how he missed out on a lot due to lack of money + did things he regrets because of lack of money. 

 

As for Cjamm, the beat is really hot but he really has no range in style when rapping. He makes the beat sound so mundane when it's so hot. 

 

Edit : Hearing it again, both tracks are really hot this time. Cjamm goes hard towards the end. 

 

Aww that's awesome that's it's personal. I think the best performances have been the ones where the rappers make the lyrics very personal, 'cause the emotions

Yup. Looking at the song details on Melon, Dok2 and Gary (OMG?!!) are listed for composition. Konquest did the arrangement (from Royal Class, same guy who helped Iron with "I AM"). 

 

this makes me wonder wtf YDG is doing though?? unless his contribution is getting Gary to help or something

too much bleeping on C jamm's performance. Iron rocked his semifinal stage!! didn't like the featuring singer but that ENDING!!

 

Both guys' semifinal stages were better than their final stages. I liked Bobby's slightly more. congrats Bobby! and looking forward to seeing more of him .... next week :O

If season 4 came out next year, who do you guys want to return as a contestant? And do you want the same producers or not? If not list new people ~~

 

Chamaine needs to come back and brighten everyone with his smile. Illionaire producers too >_<

 

I think 1llionaire should definitely come back. The way they put in lots of effort and tried to help Bobby shine without forcing a style onto him was great. I think that they, as well as San E and Swings team, knew how to put on performances that would garner votes. I actually would like to see YG producers again, other than the messy "That XX" remix their producing was very solid. 

 

J.slow should come back, as well as both Chamane and the other high school kid (those 3 hang out, cute). Owen, who the proucers considered for revival after the 1v1s. Jolly V too! and Giriboy should redeem himself.

 

I would like more female rappers next time~

Idk what I'm going to do since SMTM is over. Iron updates his social accounts but not too frequently. He literally moved so far up my bias list that I need constant updates from him like my other top biases. Sigh..

 

I know how you feel. I downloaded Daenamhyup's mixtape just to hear more Iron and now I like pretty much all of them as well hah. I wish Iron updated his instagram/twitter as frequently as, like, Jay Park or Gray or Dok2.

And lol Illionaire after watching Iron's rehearsal: "Since he came out in formal clothing, he has to win."  "Every time Iron comes out like that, he racks up all the money." Which, hahaha, turned out to be true. Every time he wore a sexy suit he got most of the money. Maybe that's why Bobby put on a suit for the finals. Suit = money = win.

 

Also Illionaire are ADORABLE when they're clueless about the band. Dok2 is like a small child.

I’m Iron from YDG Team on SMTM3.

Today, I get to answer the questions you have through this interview.

Q. What do you want to achieve as a musician?

I want to write history with progressive music.

Q. What aspects of hip hop appeal to you?

Hip hop is like a bowl of steamed white rice.

It’s my main meal and it forms my bones.

It fuses well with other [music] genres and I think it’s the most honest genre.

That’s why I fell in love with hop hop.

Q. If you could form a project group, which contestant do you want to do it with?

Bobby. Kind of like Nas and Damian Marley.

Q. Tell us how you feel about performing at the SMTM3 Concert.

Thanks to you all, I even got [the opportunity] to perform at the concert.

I had initially hoped to just make it to the finals (top 8) but I ended up being one of the final 4. I’ll do my best to win at the concert so that I can become the main [MC].

i'm at a loss. i've always looked forward to new eps of smtm but now i have nothing. my life has no purpose now.

Me too. I'm filling the void with Mix & Match (it even has the same timeslot, how convenient) but now I'm contemplating watching the earlier seasons of SMTM even though there aren't subs and the formats sound worse than the third season's.

 

I miss getting new songs and performances each week. I want more Olltii and Iron on TV too.

the parts about Bobby and B.I. have been translated and posted elsewhere before, I think.

 

 

 

 

1. The verse I performed during the ‘No Dollmodel’ showcase was a verse from the song ‘Fangirls’ on my mixtape [Rappin’ OLLday]. It criticizes how fandoms believe that it is important for idols to be good looking rather than actually be good at singing. If you have time, go take a listen!
 

2. It’s not that I specifically intended to pick on Bobby & B.I, but there were many contestants who would gossip behind their backs (ones who didn’t even make it to the final line up) rather than rapping about it on stage. That frustrated and irritated me, so I took the initiative to call them out instead. Not because I had hard feelings towards them, but because if I called them out, it would also make the show more exciting. Bobby and B.I who watched that performance would come up to me and say “Your performance was so fun to watch!!†and I am thankful that they took the hint and didn’t take it in a negative way. (Even though it wasn’t edited that way..)

3. I’m an early 96-er, but Chamane and B.I who were also 96-ers would call me hyung while I became friends with 95-er Bobby and was able to talk comfortably with him. In my mind, I want to be friends with everybody and I consider them to be friends but… no. That would make things complicated. Ah I’m going to go crazy! Anyway, sorry that I’m an early 96-er..

T/N: In Korea, Olltii would be considered part of the 95 group because he was born in the earlier months of the year and that’s why he was able to become close with Bobby and talk comfortably, while Chamane and B.I who were born in the later part of 96 would call him hyung to be respectful

4. Originally the beat for ‘OLL’ Ready’ was supposed to go to Taeyang, so Choice37 brought in another beat that he produced. However, it wasn’t a style that fit Jidam or me so we decided to switch. So while listening to Choice37’s beat, the choice that I was pulled to was number 37! (?)

5. ‘OLL’ Ready’ was produced because of Tablo hyung who would always ask “Olltii, you don’t usually write punch lines?†And I won because of that! Thanks to him, I spent many sleepless nights trying to come up with something that even the producers were satisfied with. In the middle of it there was a saying “there’s something in the middle of YG whose level is in the D range~†and after people would say “Whoa- What are you doing?â€

6. I couldn’t give the money to Jidam because I’m broke too.. The reason is that I lose my watch often.

7. A contest where you compete with hip hop while there are people watching you and cheering you on is overwhelming. I think this was the point where I felt as if I was at the top and I should continue to go down this path. Not trying to look down or diss the other contestants or anything. This is just how the atmosphere was, so there were things I regretted too, but the conclusion is that everybody gave it their best. I luv y’all!

8. In a situation where I can’t feel or sense love, my next performance would be on ‘love’.. To be honest, I had a really hard time. My real identity is Jung Woo Sung, but I haven’t even experienced love on a deeper level, so I decided to perform where I display my deep love for hip hop. “What is something that I can’t do more than that XX? That XX doesn’t even love you!†Masta Wu hyung enjoyed ‘That XX’ more than ‘OLL’ Ready.’ And to Teddy and G-DRAGON who agreed to let me do the remix, I send my utmost gratitude. Thank you!

9. Wu&Blo hyung named a few candidates such as CL and Taeyang to feature in my song, but I turned them down. I’m going against Bobby and going to be dissing YG, so to feature another YG artist didn’t seem like a fair play and I really wanted Zico hyung to do it. I requested Zico and despite his busy schedule, he agreed and wrote a cool rap so thank you.. With the money I earn from this track, I shall buy him meat.

10. “The hip hop cosplay in ‘That XX,’ people assumed it was about supreme T, whose love only goes to Haru.†‘Tablo a.k.a Supreme T a.k.a Haru’s dad’ and people would ask “Isn’t this a diss towards Tablo? To intensify the diss, he’s even calling out his kid.†But in reality, the meaning of the lyrics was meant to mean the love that only goes for a day. I was taken aback by these assumptions..

11. If we were able to go back to the round where we were able to pick which teams to be on, I would still pick the same team. I would look forward to another team’s producing, but if I were to have chosen a different team, I wouldn’t have been able to come up with tracks like ‘OLL’ Ready’ and ‘That XX.’ I’m going to assume that the other contestants feel the same way about their teams as I do

12. As I expected, one of the final winning contenders was Vasco hyung. If I heard his song ‘못다한 ì´ì•¼ê¸°â€™ in the finals, I would’ve really liked it and was a bit regretful. Of course, I’m not trashing Bobby for winning. There was not a single person who didn’t perform well!

p.s If it’s behind, the behind story is now done! At the after party, we all exchanged words, but everybody did so well. Again, thank you to everybody who was interested and cheered us on. 

From now on, as a musician I will let you guys hear good music and watch good performances. I feel as if it will be performances where I show my true feelings. To those who felt my songs and enjoyed them, once again thank you very much. I will hurry and release new materials. Thank y’all!!

 

It's interesting the the "Oll' Ready" beat was supposed to be Taeyang's. (It's an AWESOME beat.)  It's nice to read some behind-the-scenes stories of what it was like for the contestants to work with the producers. The young rappers' friendship is adorable \o/

Time for a re-watch.

 

- I like how "handsome" or "good visuals" is now the go-to description for Iron. Not "second-hand swagger" anymore, or "reggae". San E: "Iron is a model. I thought Kim Soohyun came to rap."

- Do ya'll think it would have mattered if C jamm had picked to go up against Bobby instead of Iron? (No way we would've picked Vasco, that's team and label kill). IMO, the results would have been the same.

- This show has some of the most hilarious quotes ever, thanks to the producers. San E's whole "C Jamm is a castle, Iron is a softball or an egg" had me baffled. How does he come up with this stuff?!

- Mnet bleeping C Jamm's performance is so annoying. 

- Iron wants to be known as a "Rap Monster", too bad you already know a "Rap Monster" ... (or was that a shoutout?)

- lol I find it cute that Bobby asked Iron to mess up.

 

best part is 1llionaire gloating about their angel edit and how their images got better. "Whatever we do, they call us cute"  ... because the stuff that comes out of your mouths IS cute.

So I was checking out the OH! Blog's feature on Iron and they wrote that he is now a trainee at Polaris and is going to debut with a group called HIVE. Anyone know about this? Is this legit? I was kinda looking forward to him being a solo artist. 

He was in a teaser as an upcoming member of HIVE a year ago -
