I haven't really been following the discussion lately tbh but here are a jumble of thoughts on ep 6/7, tho they might be a bit redundant now:

 

EPISODE 6

 

 

THOUGHTS ON YDG? In the beginning of the show, I thought I didn't get YDG because I was still kind of new to k-hiphop and hip hop in general, but... I've rewatched almost every episode and tried listening to his singles, but I still don't get him. OTL I thought Giriboy's narrative for "Truck 1991" had potential but as usual I had trouble understanding how YDG's beat transitions are supposed to work together. I love Giri so it's kinda painful to watch how he's being so badly guided... it makes me wonder if YDG is just one of those artists who succeeds because of his unique style but doesn't really know how to do anything outside of it.

 

or maybe I'm just not listening to the right YDG stuff. idk.

 

Tablo and B.I. - I totally heard a bit of Dad!Tablo coming out before B.I walked on stage lul. While I didn't like that B.I went with YG at first, it worked out in the end because out of all the judges, Blo was the one best suited to helping B.I through his ~trauma~. Blo mentioned having stage anxiety when he made his comeback after TaJinYo and if anyone understands what it's like to stand in front of a crowd of people who hate you or want you to fail, it would be Blo. Goodness knows what kind of heart to hearts were had off screen.

 

 

 

EPISODE 7

 

 

wtf why does the MC keep asking such useless questions. "Did you make any mistakes? Do you think you're gonna win?" Who would admit to their mistakes or say they thought they're gonna fail in front of the audience???

 

I LOVE SAN E. Swings painted himself as a hardass in the beginning of the show but as the show progresses, he's kind of becoming a softie. It was interesting seeing the dynamic between the two of them and I really appreciate his determination to judge fairly in the whole CJamm vs Boo Hyunsuk(?) thing and how he dealt with Vasco. So classy.

 

I also love the rapport between 1llionaire and WuBlo and how they're so chill with each other. (Probs a bit of a throwback to mapthesoul days too). lmfao Dok2: "We lost? What are you talking about? Han River? We never went there."

 

 

 

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON JUDGES/CONTESTANTS

OLLTII GIVES ME LIFE. I actually really like his stages and the day that he leaves will be a sad one. :( While homeboy might be friends with Double B now, he was def a bitter drama queen earlier in the season. But I'm glad he took that role because lbr, somebody had to make things interesting.

 

Now that we've seen some of the actual producing going on, anyone else have thoughts on the judging styles? Going back to the thread's poll, I have such trouble deciding if I would wanna be under San E or Tablo's team. I think they both give the most well-rounded feedback but Tablo has a more fatherly touch lul whereas San E would be upfront and be like "no that sounds boring". I ended up voting for San E though just cause that type of bluntness would be most beneficial for me. With 1llionaire, they do their job well, but I feel like they also produce with a distinct style in mind so in the end we wouldn't jive that well.

 

and lastly... omfg Ironnnn *o* no wonder y'all are in love with him. Between him and Giriboy, I'M SO SORRY I EVER JUDGED ANYONE WEARING A BUCKET HAT.
