for real I see that argument so often and I'm like ??? did people just forget about three members of the biggest boygroup at the time fighting tooth and nail to escape SM's clutches?

also not every K-Pop group has the oldest as leader. Leader means being the in-between of company and group, if you have a foreign member who's not used to Korea that much it makes ZERO sense to make them the leader. Like for example in Got7 with Mark vs JB. Also there's a lot of groups where the oldest isn't necessarily the leader, even if they're Korean and it's whoever they thought would do it best - Twice Jihyo, BTS RM, TXT Soobin, I-dle Soyeon.

How much SM paid you to say the lie?

You can't use f(x) as example; the leader was 22, the oldest korean was 16. You want 16 yo Luna to be leader when a fully grown adult exist??

Whoever gave me skull reaction can fuck off for disliking a fact.

Every company is discriminatory towards foreign group members because the laws are discriminatory towards them so the companies can underpay them

Didnt sorn and other idols manage to change this law though?

Yeah I think SM is pretty discriminatory, I also think that s why so many NCT Chinese members are close friends with svt members, they take advice from them to my knowledge. If you literally have to go far smaller company's other idols for advice, I can only imagine SM sucks with them

Isn't there a boygroup where the minor was the leader?  I don't know if he was a minor but I know he was the youngest...

Yeah, he is quite popular, he lived on Korea for a long time so he is good at giving advice, he taught Minghao ton of stuff too. He also knows like every good Chinese restaurant in Seoul lol

yea there's probably a case like this

not the youngest but second youngest is the leader of enhypen.

OT: i prefer when groups/companies pick members that have leadership qualities rather then just going with the oldest. being the oldest doesn't always mean you're fit to be a leader of a group.

I agree, like Cheol is an amazing leader but its draining for him, probably jeonghan or woozi or even seungkwan would be a more comfortable leader but cheol was oldest. giving them as an example tbh

Actually, Jungwon was named leader of Enhypen at only 16 and he just turned 17 a couple months ago (current younger leader in kpop I think), but the oldest in the group is 19 so it's not like there's that much difference either I guess lol.

The only case I know where the leader is the youngest is Winner but I'm not sure how old he was when Winner debuted.

But Enhypen has the second youngest as the leader and he just turned 17 a couple months ago.

Mirae isn't a good example of "treating foreign members bad" because the japanese member is literally the main vocal and he gets the most lines. Not being the leader doesn't mean he's getting a bad treatment because like people have said the oldest is not always the leader.

Yup. Mark didn’t want to be leader either, but when JB needed a break or was sick or something he stepped up when needed to.
