there're probably more examples, these are just on top of my head

 

Also can we stop with this crap "they only left the company, not the group". As a SONE I can tell you it's bullshit. Since 3 members left SM almost 4 years ago, we still haven't seen them as OT8, officially. Same can be aplied to others

Being a Gfriend and Apink fan this year is not fun =(

2014 was the year I slowly stopped caring about kpop then got back into it when SuJu came back then got bored...but got back into it the following year when BB came back.

I was so over it. Of course, I still cared for my faves but I mentally checked out.

 

And it's like that now. I'm so over everything.

2014 is def worse, but id say 2021 is known on its on for the "me too" movement that swept through South Korea earlier this year, which is still pretty crazy.

2014 still wins, and hopefully it keep that title for a long time because

1. A concert mishap that left several fans dead. (4Minute)

2. An absolutely horrific and terrifying family tragedy. (Leeteuk)

3. The most drawn out humiliating scandal to ever happen to an idol who did not deserve it. (Park Bom)

4. And an accident so devastating and unthinkable that it rocks everyone in the Kpop world to this day and even new fans feel the weight when they learn about it. (Ladies’ Code)

And on top of that, Korean society in general was going through a lot during this time as well (Sewol Ferry)

Idols leaving companies because they just want to do what’s best for them does not compare to those things.

2014 was way way worse. 2021 is being rough with the countless bullying scandals, some popular/iconic groups disbanding or going on hiatus eetc but it's far from being the worst.

Also, Iz*one disbanding was expected after all. It's like saying 2017/19/20 were bad years because IOI, W1 and X1 disbanded.
