Name a group that truly benefitted from disbanding

I'd say MissA. As much as I miss them, let's be real, they'd be a mess right now. Two of the members would have to show support for the chinese government and three of them  are forever stuck in Suzy's shadow.

Sunmi / WG? She did return to the Wonder Girls and they then disbanded.

Turbo - The company already had issues with the former member leaving and being replaced (their hit songs were with Kim Jung Nam not Mickey). Once Kim Jong Kook left he had a big career as we know today.

Finkl - Lee Hyori being the leader the group members just didn't like each other.

Glam - bad sales and the Dahee scandal, Jini and Dahee are doing okay but I don't know about the rest. I believe their leader Jiyeon is doing well too as well as Trinity.

S#arp -  the co-ed group were two of the female members fought because of that whole issue they had to disband Lee Jihye was the victim in all this... look it up.

Co-ed school - the kangho scandal... (heo Chanmi was in this group)

Five girls - they did not get to debut but the company dissolved before they could due to lack of funds. Uee, G.NA, Yubin, Spica Jiwon and Hyosung of secret was in it. All had great careers afterwards.

I lowkety disagree. If Glam would of held on just a bit longer (literally a few months), they would of benefited (financially) from Bts first world tour - which started near the end of 2014, and the other tours that followed in 2015 due to HYYH era being BTS breakthrough in Korea. Glam would of been known as BH/SoMu (now HYBE) first successful idol group. On top of that a girl group! Although BH/SoMu was small and struggling at the time, Glam was on their way to becoming legends. So much potential. It's unfortunate how they ended.

Miss A and 4 minute for being known as Suzy/Hyuna and friends.

Gugudan because Jelpi never bothered to promote them properly.

B.A.P because TS was total trash.

The whole reason why Dahee got into that scandal is because she was broke and wanted to pay off her company debt. You really think she would have done that if the group wasn't at a brink of failing and were actually getting a decent amount of popularity? The girl is making big bucks for streaming so she definitely isn't that dumb to be risking her whole career if the group was gaining some momentum. Her attempt to blackmail Lee Byung Hyun was obviously a way to get quick cash which she wasn't going to get if she did nothing and hoped for Glam to succeed. And if the group was then Jiyeon's solo would have done better and Jini would have been more popular.

Not condoning her blackmailing but she clearly did it because she was broke and desperate... it's still messed up and she's trash for trying to.

Edit: I went to their Wikipedia and the sales were okay. The group didn't promote their last songs too well. In the mirror was hardly promoted and their last song was on 4 feb 2014. The scandal happened that same year in 2014 September. So either the company gave up on them because she wouldn't be blackmailing him for no reason if they had schedules or they were doing as great as people seem to think.

Yes, I'm aware. I specifically mentioned their financial situation for a reason. Glam wasn't the only one struggling. The entire company was back then.

"The company's situation when we were planning BTS was really not good. Both we and the members said, "Let's at least not fail." (Bang Shikyuk, Archive K 2021)

BTS first large scale world tour started in October of 2014. And everything from there continue to go up for them. That's why I said if only Glam waited just a bit longer, they could of benefited from the new money coming into the company.  Boy groups traditionally have been known as breadwinners for a company early on. BTS themselves is rumored to have breakeven around 2015. Plus around this time is when the company gained some huge investors also.

Yes, I do believe Glam had great potential. I honestly believe some people tend to write them off way to fast as a group. But the reality is for a nugu/small company Glam was rising, slowly. They were starting to get some opportunities an attention. I do think BH/SoMu had plans for them but simply didn't have the connections and resources for everything, yet.  After the scandal put the company(s) in a difficult situation with the group.

---------------------------------

For those who are not aware. Glam was co-managed by Bighit and Source Music. BH was over the production/concepts and SoMu more of actual marketing/management part.

Came here to comment 4minute and miss A, its crazy to have one member be too popular and then the rest overshadowed

Especially when the rest were really talented too. It was horrible how knetz looked down on the rest of Miss A and it felt like no one tried to help the situation.
