1. I agree

2. The four of them were born just to be idols

3. The 4 people I expected were here. Though there are people to add here, but no one to be excluded

4. Their popularity proves they are genius idols… I also want to add Nayeon here

5. For BTS, I think it’s V, not Jimin

6. Personally, I want to add Taeyang here

7. IU too ㅠㅠ

8. They are all powerful idols ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

9. Why couldn’t Taemin be there? I’m not a fan, but I thought of him

10. Except for Baekhyun CR.

agree. i would add twice nayeon. i'm surprised the op didn't include her, since she's usually included in list like this.

oooh, i thought the title is natural face idols

For starters, people expect idols to basically always satisfy fans or viewers. Koreans use the phrase "natural genius idol" to refer to idols who are basically really good (smart) at being an idol.They come off as genuine (natural) with good showmanship. The types that look like they truly enjoy being on stage, on camera, and don't mind doing cute fanservice for fans.

edit: Plus all of these idols have a similar vibe that kfans like, as mentioned in my above post. ^^;;

Things like this make me really dislike the original fandom K-pop was crafted for. The measures people must go just to be a good entertainer...

I also wonder if Korean audience gives importance to authentic artistry? It's like there are always some standards for everything and no room for authenticity. Can someone with more insight to Korean culture enlighten me on this matter? 😄

The targeted audience for Kpop fandom isn't new to the music industry. Korea wasn't nearly the first. Just like their music, Korea borrow their ideas from other countries. For example, many teenage artist (idols) globally have a similar crafted fandom. (One Direction, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, etc.) That's why many of them talk (sing) about their younger years being rough. As you said, society measures what it means to be a good entertainer and role model for teens. And when these teen artist grow older there are expectations (pressure) that they will try keep a relatively good image. Child actors/actresses go through a similar phase...

Well, in Korea there's the whole idol vs.artist concept. Idol are thought to be manufactured while artist are more authentic.There are articles and even pann post about the topic. It's not something new to Kpop community. Big Bang were sort of the first idol group to blur the lines between idol and artist since the members were recognized by the public for producing their music and having creative control. The public respected them. And it's due them why more and more companies started letting their idols have a bit more creative control. However it's still really hard for an idol to break that idol stereotype in Korea tho...unless thy break their perfect idol image overall.

fyi - here's a decent eneglish article: https://seoulbeats.com/2013/04/from-idol-to-artist-how-is-it-done/
