GOT7's Jackson has cut ties with Adidas due to the fashion brand's support of Xinjiang Laborers.

Adidas is one of the companies that are no longer using Xinjiang cotton due to the alleged use of forced labor and discrimination of ethno-religious minorities in Xinjiang to harvest cotton. Chinese nationals are now boycotting the brand among others.

Though GOT7 have been collaborating with Adidas since 2018, Jackson has now decided to cancel his endorsement of the brand. Jackson's official Weibo announced, "From today forward, this agency and Mr. Jackson Wang will cease all work with the brand Adidas Originals. The country's interests are above everything else, and the studio and Mr. Jackson Wang are strictly against all malicious acts that defame and slander China." CR.

Is dilraba uyghur?

yeah.  She was born in Xinjiang.

CCP has been posting images comparing slave labor in the US south during the 19th century to Xinjiang today.  The point is supposed to be "the US is guilty of slave labor," but why on earth would you make the comparison??  Nobody in the US thinks US slavery was a good thing.

They are going with the "Just because you Americans did it in the past does not mean we are currently doing the same thing" blah blah blah bullshit narrative.

CCP/C-netz are also constantly demanding for evidence of Uyghurs actually getting mistreated in the cotton industry which is also probably why they keep bringing up these images to show that we don't have similar photos and yet they have a bunch of you people mistreating others in the past.

I also think they are trying to divert the attention, knowing how sensitive and huge racial issues are in the West by hoping that ppl will talk about the history of slavery rather than Xinjiang.

Jackson didn't stand for his hometown, so I didn't expect him to defend Uyghurs' rights but it still hurts because I love him and I'm Turkic myself. It's fcking complicated 😞

Dilraba on the other side, girl, wth...

I also like Yang Yang a lot but idk man, can't we all just live in peace and stay away from dirty politics?

I understand why he did this — I’m empathetic towards it. If he didn’t, it would make his life and that of his family dramatically complicated. I don’t blame him.

But it’s still jarring to see it.

And as far as the CCP and their whatabout-isms with the US and slavery, and the EU and the holocaust, it’s just more fucking bullshit from a bullshit ideology, and a half-baked economic and political doctrine that would make Marx and Mao roll over in their graves.

Yes, the United States practiced slavery, yes — Germany industrialized mass murder. But you will find no one in mainstream society that will excuse it.

i get that they are basically forced to do this if they want to continue to work in china but it's still so disappointing

Nobody can force you to lose your f*cking dignity as a human being for bloody money, that's just the price YOU decided to put to your soul; I wouldn't be able to sleep thinking i'm getting money over slave work of people in concentration camps, could you?

His stans acting like if there are snipers pointing at him and his family every second and that's the only reason he's supporting the ccp is just... but tbh, watching images of him going from being a proud hong kong citizen to totally kiss the ass of the china government is distasteful.

Deluded fan girls act like being a celeb in china isnt a choice. That keeping your mouth shut isnt a choice. This is how they try to victimize chinese celebs. Dont fall for their bs. The real victims are the uighurs, inner mongolians, tibetans, and hong kongers

this is propaganda and we all can see that - have you ever been threatened by your own government? you saw what they do to millions of people who just want to live their life peacefully but somehow you think the celebs, who are important to china's soft power, can chose what to do and how to do it?

i'm assuming not following their orders meant you had a price to pay

i'm not saying we shouldn't criticize these celebs for doing what they do (call them out whenever you want, it's justified) but they won't stop posting this shit. china won't stop putting protesters in jail. the uyghurs will continue to get hurt - unless something on the scale of international law happens. i think these brands did the right thing by not buying the cotton produced by slave labor and i hope china gets punished at least economically for the things they do

The celebrities are just propaganda, nothing else. People tend to forget here how China censors anything without question, and how controlling is the government. While I can understand famous Chinese people trying to be "a good Chinese citizen" since they were brainwashed since little, I can't understand Jackson, or the famous people who aren't from China. He could be still successful and rich with his international audience and his fanbase in Korea. Like how much money does he want to be so openly unethical? If he had stayed silent since the start I'm sure no one would had question him...

Laws, especially international laws, are changed and adapted when a lot of people demand a change. In this case the movement needs strong visible supporters inside the country because political diplomacy and economical relations won't let anyone from outside affect it too much. This is reality. #everybodyknows but nothing is done. Let's be honest what these idols did will actually affect uyghurs and other minorities in China negatively. It set a tone for Chinese youth to ignore a problem as if it doesn't exist.
Choosing humanity and paying the price for it is always a choice. That's how our societies get better or worse
Ignoring the elephant in the room when someone is really hurting and even actively supporting the ones who are hurting them is a choice too.

I like how a lot of people shitted on Victoria saying that she has no humanity left in her, no backbone, no empathy, that she is brainwashed etc, but now when we are talking about Jackson there is not a single hate comment, a lot of people are like "well they surely are forced into this", but the thing is Jackson has a LOT of resources so he really isn't. Hypocrisy much? It's like a hate bandwagon that people jump on.

well regarding the Vicoria and Jackson reaction comparison. Jackson is from hong kong were they enjoyed a lot off free speech and less censorship. His reaction o the hong kong protests and siding wit China made people  think he chose money.

Vicoria was born and raised in communist china, were her family lives. they were raised with Chinese party propaganda. So im not surpised by Vicoria siding with the government being vocal.

I think people had higher expectations for Jackson but they are both wrong in this. I think is up to the western companies to stick to moral decision not to buy Xinjiang cotton.
