Well, he's always been so fake and not genuine, so it's no surprise to me. Always trying to please and gain favor on the side that would obviously be advantageous to him and his career. Even his whole variety show persona has been really fake and craves attention. I always noticed that he's really business minded, knows how to play his cards in the way he markets and promote himself for his own  selfish gains.  Not to mention the connections he has which benefits him. Thus, he has massive sales and fanbase especially the Chinese ones.  He's not genuine as person and has no humanity no empathy towards his fellow Hong Kongers and the Uyghurs who are suffering.
