Finally a thread for Juri-chan! She's an amazing actress. Definitely Top 3 in my fav J-actress list. Most of her works are so varied and it just proves how versatile she is. I still can't get over how different she is between Alice no Toge and Hidamari no Kanojo (if we're talking about her most recent works). But my favorite is still Nodame Cantabile.

 

She needs to star in more dramas/movies.

Just finished her latest drama "Alice no Toge".

As I was used seeing her on a bright and kind characters, I was in awe on how she can play such a dark role. She's such a versatile actress.

I finally finish Alice no Toge...I can honestly say in episode 10...I didn't see that one coming

 

 

After Yu(whatever the guy's son name was died) I went through a sad phase and took a break from it.(I don't handle sad dramas well. *cries while remembering about episode 8 of God's Quiz Season 4*

my Juri chan <3 I'm re watching Last Friends these days , I loved her so much in Alice no Toge and I'm looking forward to Orouburos , her new drama with Oguri Shun and Ikuta Toma :-)

I first watched Juri in Alice no Toge and was impressed by her acting, then I saw her in Last Friends and loved her even more in that. I liked how she studied the role and asked questions about Ruka (i.e. her posture, etc.).

It's funny because you're sort of going backwards in her works but yup, totally agree with you too about how she studied the roles she's playing. That's also part of the reason why she managed to convince audience with the body language, speaking tones and such. By the way, in my opinion, Nodame is her best work ever, followed by Ruka. But she's also amazing in Hidamari no Kanojo, so if you haven't watched that, please do...oh in the meantime, I'd recommend all of her older movies as well for example, Swing Girls, Rainbow Song and Naoko. Swing Girls especially, that movie is gold.

 

Regarding Ouroboros, since she's not main character there, she doesn't have much screentime and the role she's playing isn't all that challenging so I've yet to be impressed because it seems like a very normal character without much depth, at least not yet. But I think I read somewhere she might need to show complex emotions as she begins to suspect Ikuo's secret. This is also the first time she's playing a cop, I can't say it's very convincing yet though, well, she's not terrible but like I said, the character isn't well developed yet and there doesn't seem much for her to do besides being Ikuo's buddy. But I really like their chemistry together, looking forward to some reomance budding hopefully.

Ueno Juri will forever be Noda Megumi in my heart. I also saw her old movie Swing Girls and it's really good. She was already a cutie pie back then.

Apparently, she'll be in a Japanese - Korean drama slated out in the later half of this year. Her Korean partner will be TOP (BIG BANG). I noticed that among the actresses in Japan, she gets to mingle with Korean actors, first it was JaeJoong now TOP. Idk, seems the Koreans like her?

 

Anyways, I was hoping for a full Japanese production tbh but hopefully this is going to be good.

That was my first ever Japanese drama and I stopped at the same episode for the same reason. Took me over a year to go back and finish it. Anyways she played that role really well.

Just watched ouroboros and I'm still recovering from the end. I like how her character was fleshed out a bit more, otherwise I'm sure any other actress could have played a run of the mill cop role. The chemistry between her and the guy playing Ikuo was amazing and I was shopping the two from the get go.

Hi! I'm a solid Juri Ueno fan, I have watched all of her movies and dramas. My first movie of her was Rainbow Song. It really got me into her haha!

But one of my favorite roles of her is on Ouroboros and ALice no Toge. Solid acting.
