YG’s potential Baby Monster candidates unveiled

spacer.png

YG has announced plans to debut their upcoming girl group this year. From the news on their trademarked name to their dance studio being revealed on 'Treasure Map', many are hoping that Baby Monster's debut will be sooner than expected.

Some notable trainees include:

Noh Hyerin (Lyn)

Kang Seojin (Jina)

Lee Gawon (Chloe)

Kim Hyunhee

There are other known trainees who are potential members. However, these 4 have been the most recently present, so it’s more likely they’ll be in the lineup.

There are others who have been seen as potential members, too, those being:

Kang Chaeeun

Kang Chaebin

Sadaju (said to be mixed-Asian)

Seeing as it’s said this will be a multinational girl group, YG China trainees may be part of the girl group too, seeing as they were seen in Korea not too long ago. Those being:

Wang Siyu (Jane)

Wei Chen, aka Vicky

Zheng Qin, aka Pinky

Lyn has already gotten a lot of attention for her visuals, so it’s likely she’ll be part of the group's visual line.

YG has stated in the past that he wants a girl group with the style of TWICE and Girls' Generation. It is likely that this group will follow the girls-next-door concept. cr.

The first girl is really cute and she's the one that catches my attention the most. She's really young but 06 liners are 15 this year and a lot of people debut at that age or even younger.

I think they'll definitely debut this year because YG management is different now and I don't think they're gonna delay it until 2022.

One video of Hyunhee was viral on sns and she sings so good

Lyn has that young Yoona and Jisoo vibe maybe she will be popular

Chaeun is an amazing dancer considering she is in YG since 12 years and she comes from DEF academy

Surprised Subin and Seoyoung the 2007 liner left the company bc I saw potential in them

Some YG Stans say the 2007 liner still in company but maybe not debut bc age

2006 💀, girl is my little brother age....

I wish companies stop debuting kids so young

06-liners are turning 15 this year as another commenter said and that's the average youngest age for debut.

I was 12 lmao. I think sometimes people who are over 25-30 aren't even aware of their own age. Like, I still feel 18-20 sometimes and I think people born after 2000 are still babies or little kids but 00 liners are literally 21 this year and even kids born in the mid-late 00s are teens or pre-teens already.

Lol our 2nd Gen favs were whole 14-17 year olds debuting too tho

Tbh I'll never understand the whole "idols are debuting younger and younger nowadays" when majority of second gen idols debuted in their teens or very early 20s. DBSK, Big Bang, Wonder Girls, KARA, SNSD, SHINee, 4 minute, Teen Top etc debuted with all the members in their teens and the youngest members were around 14-16. If anything nowadays there's much more people in their early and mid 20s debuting. I still see quite a few 95-96 liners debuting and they're 25/26 this year. That was a rarity during second gen.

Probably because the majority of these young trainees already trained for at least 1 year. In the past young trainees just skipped or dropped out of school, now larger agencies have their own schools or send young idols to art schools but a lot of potential future idols still end up skipping on lessons because of their daily training and intense competition. In the end only some of these young trainees will debut and from the ones who debuted only few will hit it big and be financially stable. A good amount will end up with so-so or worse results from their schools and it will probably affect their future (especially looking at how important it seems to be in S.Korea to study in a good high school/uni to get decent job opportunities after).

true, back in the days majority debuted between 14-19 (international age)

now it's sort of the same but there are a lot more here and there who are in their mid 20s or later.

I mean to be fair, a lot of people generally stop celebrating their birthdays after a certain age so they'll forget how old they are or what year it is unless they look at a calendar and do some math. Luckily for me I was born in 1990 so the math is pretty straightforward for me than if I were born in say, 1987.

In regards to the rest of your post, I think it's because the 2000s doesn't even seem that long ago even though it's been 2 decades already, probably because everything's moving along so fast. You blink and all of a sudden some years have already passed.

Yeah, just last year groups like Blackswan, E'Last, Secret Number, Lunarsolar, Botopass, etc had members born in 95-96. There was also this group called UNVS in which all the members were born in the early 90s (91-93, except the youngest that's a 97 liner). Even this year there's this ex-no mercy contestant (96 liner) debuting in Rain's company bg and Miyu (96 liner too) supposedly debuting with Mystic girls. Back then seeing people in their mid/late 20s debuting was really rare. The only cases I know on the top of my head are Dara, Bom and Kahi.

True, like Jisung in W1 (91 liner), Eunbi in Izone (95) or Seungwoo in X1 (94). I get that SW's case is different because he was already a previously debuted idol but technically he re-debuted at 24-25 in X1.
