[Pannchoa] Korean fans urge Stray Kids’ Han to quickly apologize for his past controversial lyrics

Stray Kids Han Jisung
Those are the lyrics he wrote in middle school and uploaded on YT
He's in a racist controversy
Most of his fans are foreigners and it's a bit of a big issue

I feel like it will become public soon so he should make an apology

T/N: in one part of his lyrics, he says "you 깜둥이 migrant" and the word ggamdung-ie is like the Korean equivalent on the N word. Koreans sometimes call dogs or fellow Koreans with darker skin the same way and it's not offensive. But when used to describe a black person, it's considered pretty racist (from Namuwiki).

Trolling aside, it is impossible to shield racism... He was at an age of knowing everything and wrote those lyrics. Even as a non-celebrity, it's something to be ashamed of and he needs to reflect. I think that the best thing is to apologize quickly and show that he's sincerely reflecting.. It's a good thing that this only affected him negatively but since the whole team might be affected, he should apologize quickly

Even in his 2nd year of middle school, he should be fully capable of distinguishing what's wrong. Shielding is a no-no.

Stays-ah, don't call out the trolls. If someone said that this was a troll post, they are not a Stayㅠ f*ck

But I don't know why Jisungie was so mad when he was in his early rapper days. He did say that his lyrics back then were all intensely strong. He talked about his past a lot of times and every time he talked about it, he's a kid who would acknowledge the wrong that he did and reflect on it (when he fought with the members, he would say "my personality was like that, I was wrong") so seeing that, I can see that he's someone different. I'm not turned off. But I hope that he apologizes

I don't really know what to say... of course he did wrong and should apologize. I'm definitely not trying to shield him. Once this blows up, the team will be affected and the person involved will have it so hard that it will feel like death. The other members will have it hard too. I've seen this so many times so as a fan, I just feel sorry... He's seriously a hard working and ambitious kid who doesn't know anything else but music. This hurts my heart. Rather than being disappointed, I just... ha.. it makes me wonder why he did that

Ow.. he's swearing from beginning to end

Yikess this is so wrong. He should apologize quickly before it affects the whole group. Of course I won't cancel him right away. I always believe there's room for people to learn from their mistakes and be better.

Ngl a lot of east asian school kids think using racial slurs are cool based on my experience. Hope that all in the past and he's no longer the same person he was before.

The people who are trying to excuse this by saying "all kids that age say edgy stuff" on other platforms are weirdos. There's so much aggression/malice in these lyrics, no normal teen says shit like this. Hopefully he's grown and will acknowledge/apologize for all of this.

Damn, 14 year old Han had some issues. He's 21 this year and, from what I've seen of him in the past two weeks that I've found out about Stray Kids, he seems like a sensitive, easy to offend, introvert guy who's eager to be successful with his music.
As a past edgy, introvert teenager myself who fangirled after serial killers at the tender age of 13, I can't really judge him.

This will probably be unpopular in this forum, but I won't judge a person for what they did or said at 13/14, I'm sorry, but just nope. I will judge his reaction to this controversy now that he's an adult who knows better.

Good on the fans for urging him to do the right thing and I truly hope he does. Those are some serious words and thoughts for a kid of that age to have. I really hope he has changed, grown and learned from his mistakes, because reading this made me highly uncomfortable. Really messed up. I know some kids try to be edgy and what not, but they can still hurt others while doing that and he's old enough now to understand that and understand what he did was so wrong.

i have a feeling that this is gonna be a rather unpopular opinion but I don't want to judge him for something he did at 13/14 because we are all bound to make stupid mistakes at that age and he has grown a lot since that. of course what he did was wrong and an appology should be issued but I don't think he should be cancelled or bashed.

EDIT: you guys keep clowning my comment and that doesnt make sense lol

I know lots of western teenagers who say much worse things you know.

Even if it was him trying to an edgy teen/wannabe rapper/dealing with angst, he still knows right from wrong. I'm not saying people can't truly change over time, and I sincerely hope that as he's grown up, he has come to realize those lyrics and use of terms are unacceptable.

I doubt JYP will let him issue an apology for lyrics he wrote when he was thirteen when the cornrows thing got swept under the rug

Hyunjin's controversy probably was only apologised for because BLM was massive at the time

I was going to say that they had taken accountability for the Hyunjin thing ( and seemingly some of the other problematic issues in the past), so perhaps him or them speaking out is possible. But then again, you're right that JYPE's motto more often than not is to ignore the situation at hand and hope it goes away. >.<

I'm not sure how the affected fans are responding to it, but I'm really glad and pleasantly surprised that he apologised so quickly

it seems like he really understands the gravity of what he wrote which is good

This is definitely some baby edgelord  stuff here but he's not off the hook. Even at that age he knew those types of lyrics would be controversial and turn heads. He probably thought it would make him seem cool and mature.

Glad he apologized and is owning up to his mistake.

wow, honestly anyone saying he didn't know better doesn't have a very good argument, even if he was trying to be an edgelord rapper. I'm a young teen myself and know not to use slurs.

I'm glad he apologized but I don't know if I'm ready to fully forgive him, as someone who constantly deals with serious mental illness. But I do think he's willing to learn from his mistakes so I have hope.

About 10 years ago, a 13-year-old kid wrote a controversial hip hop song... honestly, I'd be surprised if he had written a non controversial hip hop song, especially considering who were the top hip hop artists 10 years ago and the lack of talk about racism, bullying and all at that time. Han was just immature like any other kid of his age can be.

You know now cause people talk about cancelling an idol every day for this and that. It has happened 10 years ago, things were different back them.

There are a lot of TV shows, songs, jokes from 10 years ago that would be cancelled nowadays, but at that time "it was ok".
