I watched the first 2 episodes already. I actually enjoyed it a lot, despite knowing the story already since I've read the manga and watched the J-drama. I actually often find remakes boring because I know the story already and I watch it just for the sake of knowing the application in dramas that should represents real life, so when I watch remakes I often have to force myself to continue watching it. But I surprisingly enjoy this drama a lot, it just flows and it makes me laugh at times as well, it's not boring at all. It's just Shim Eun Kyung doesn't actually meet my expectation, I find myself cringing at her acting a lot in the beginning, but as time goes by it gets better. I agree with someone who said sometimes her acting is exaggerated, sometimes it's natural. Idk maybe I have too high expectation of her, since she rocks in Miss Granny, she's totally natural there.

On another side, I think Joowon as Chiaki and Go Kyung Pyo acting's here are great. I enjoy Joowon as Chiaki a lot, he's totally natural and I so can see Chiaki in him without me constantly comparing to the original one. Joowon nails this character and he makes his own Chiaki, applause for him. Whilst Go Kyung Pyo totally rocks Mine character, he's totally natural in it, moreover I actually have seen his acting before in another drama (God's Quiz 3) and at that time he acted a completely different character, so seeing him acting a completely different character in this drama so natural like that makes me think his acting is pretty good. GKP makes his own Mine as well and he did well on it.

I hope people won't be insulting and downgrading this drama just because this drama isn't the carbon copy of J-drama, since there's no way it will be exactly the same. I actually like how they make their own flow that suits K-drama more, without erasing the original elements of Nodame Cantabile too much. And btw I like how they put their own humor in it without copying the slapstick parts, I actually laughed plenty of times watching it.

I'm sure you guys will enjoy watching it more if you watch this drama as one on its own rather than busy comparing it with the original drama or manga.

But there were some parts that managed to be just as funny even if it wasn't as manga-esque....like Ilrak (Mine) talking about his father to the test evaluator...also...

I dang near died at the Chiaki-smirk

There were parts in ep 2 (when she was sick) that Eunkyung looked EXACTLY like Ueno Juri....it was uncanny. About Naeil's portrayal so far...you're right. sometimes it's a bit too much...and sometimes it just falls RIGHT into place.

I agree about the funny parts, I find it entertaining as well. I actually don't really like it when some dramas are too manga-esque since it's a drama after all, the application will differ compared to manga of course. So I like how this drama don't force itself to copy the manga-esque parts one and makes its own.

I got a feeling that they're gonna butcher the story more and more in the future. Up until now, I don't like how:

1. They butcher Stresseman character. This character is one of the highlight in both manga and J-drama, but they made major changes with it. It's so dull now.

2. They keep showing filler scenes like board meeting of the school's professors, dean, and directors, Franz with Mi Na, etc. It irritates me how they keep showing the board meeting scenes. I give no fucks for it, keep it as few as possible please.

3. How they seem to be going to focus more on the triangle love in the future. The original one also has it, but it was an oboe player and at least the progress of that oboe player liking Nodame and how it goes it's more slowly and natural, thus feels more realistic and cohesive with the whole atmosphere of the previous story. But not in this drama, they make it pretty sudden and cliche instead. The atmosphere how the way it goes doesn't fit with the rest of the story before, not to mention how Yoo Jin reacted so fast about Nae Il in that situation, while I think Chiaki won't do that (yet) considering the progress and all. Seeing that scene I feel like I'm watching another cliche Korean drama instead of Nodame Cantabile. They should make it more natural and fitting with the rest of the story. I hope it won't be the main focus in the future. Seriously if you want to add something, make it well written please.

And I don't get why should they make this new character instead of going with that oboe player character.

Don't butcher Nodame Cantabile any further please  If this drama ends up being butchered I feel bad especially for Joo Won since he does his role so well.

It's official, Park Bo Gum has charmed me. He's originally pretty charming as Yoon Hoo, he's even more charming when he acted as a conductor. Right at the moment he became the conductor, I couldn't stop smiling and paid attention to the orchestra with full concentration. I was so charmed with how he conducted. That orchestra is the best part of this episode. Omg I might be even looking forward the next episodes because of him. Can't wait!

On another side I'm pretty relieved to see they didn't (or haven't) take turn to typical cliche K-dramas and still sticks to the original vibe. I hope it will get better.

I was intrigued!!!!

So Naeil Cantabile has officially stepped out on its own page. It started gaining footing last week and it's well on its way now. This story line is shaping up to be interesting. So our cellist can conduct (feels a bit ex-machina but I'll roll with it)...he sparks Yoojin's competitive fire that will make him a more exciting pianist (prediction for next ep)...also seems like our cellist/conductor/new hero has finger problems that'll limit his cello playing (can't be k-drama without a health issue)...and the love triangle seems like it'll be complicated as Yoojin hasn't admitted that he's interested in Naeil to anyone or himself. He acted on impulse by grabbing her from cellist/conductor/new hero but it doesn't seem like he's suddenly [aware of being] in love with her (which is good cuz I thought they were gonna try to push that love line...but they haven't).

I'm essited to see what happens next ep~

Me too, I'm actually relieved they didn't butcher the upcoming story like what I was expecting, I thought they're gonna push the love line like other cliche K-dramas either.

I finally caught up ^_^

I like how they're covering Naeil's past at this point, and I'm really enjoying how Joo Won conveys Yoo Jin's subtle attraction for Naeil without coming on too strong or looking entirely disinterested. Does anyone know if the cellist was also in the j-drama?

He was an oboe player in the j-drama and no where near AS important to the storyline.  He did become a friend of s-oke and he was interested in Naeil...but the k-drama turned him into a cellist who can conduct, is fuelling Yoojin's own development and has a storyline of his own including health issues lol

If you're taking the comparison of characterization of the cellist in K-ver and the oboe player in J-ver for consideration, both of them are actually different characters. The cellist is not interrelated with the oboe player in J-one, tho both of them are actually interested in Nodame/Nae Il. The characterization of both of them are different, they have different situations and different personalities, that's why the cellist is introduced as a new character that only exists in K-ver. The only common thing between them is they both like Nae Il/Nodame.

Before I did expect a little that Yoon Hoo would take a turn to a conductor after seeing him conducting. But when it actually happened after he hurt his hand, I'm still pretty surprised. It will be more interesting in the future to see Yoon Hoo as a conductor and for him to also be competing with Yoo Jin in conducting besides getting Nae Il. After getting surgery Yoon Hoo seems to be more determined and open in getting Nae Il lol

Yoon Hoo was so charming when he conducted Mambo, so I want to see him conducting again.

I know right!!! I'm like "brotha doesn't care at allllllll whether folk knows he wants Naeil or not" lol.

If I didn't know the ending, I would have routed for Yoonhoo so hard...

Me too, I actually want to root for Yoon Hoo too. He's so charming and a gentleman.
